Instead, they felt like a cage, magnifying the tension that had arrived with Elias’s news. Vance was dead. The Weavers were erasing loose ends, and they had started at the very top. The great hall became a war room. A massive, scarred oak table, once used for my grandfather’s feasts, was now littered with maps, scraps of parchment, and weaponry.
