AVA Hearing my phone ring, I jolt upright. I feel my body for the device, checking the bed and behind the pillows. While I could hear it ringing, I can’t pinpoint the location.“Here,” Sophie appeared, extending the device toward me. “It was on your nightstand.” The phone goes silent as I take it from her, dropping it at my side. “Are you okay?” “Yes, yes, yes, yes… yes—yes.” “I heard you the first time, and you don’t seem fine,” she stated. “Why wouldn’t I be? I’m getting married tomorrow.” I sigh, bringing my knees up to my chest. She also sighed. “Any news yet?” I raised my head, hearing her footsteps heading toward the door. “Daddy said they are still looking. If anyone can find them, it’s Daddy and Don. Asher made the right call proceeding with the wedding plans,” she responded. I nod. “How‘s Laylah?” “I haven’t gone there this morning, but I’m guessing, no better than you. I’ll have something prepared for you.” “Don’t bother,” I shook my head. “I’m not hungry.” “I

AVA The Tuhka’s men rush into the church with their weapons in the air. Caden men return the favour, aiming their weapons and waiting on the order to fire. The sea of armed men parts as Don, and the main members of the family except for Laylah who is probably home with her kids, approach the aisle “I have humour you for as long as I have due to the fact that you’re a member of the Tuhka family. But all lines have been crossed by you! Family or not, I will not stand for it!” Don looked at Grandma, his next words revealing why. “You’re coming with us.” Caden barks out a laughter lacking warmth. His mouth twists into a snarl as he stalks toward his uncle. He extends his hand over his shoulder, and one of his men steps forward to put a pistol in it. “Who the fuck do you think you are talking to Thane Tuhka?” He demanded, standing toe to toe with him. “You barged into my territory, crashed my wedding and have the nerve to point your weapons at my bride and I?” “Caden, if I were yo

AVA Just like last night, Caden takes off after breakfast. I stride into the bedroom, collapsing on the bed. My arms have grown tired from lifting my gown each time I walk. The thought of wearing this for the rest of my life because I have nothing else to change into, causes me to shudder. Startle out of my thoughts by the ringing sound of my cellphone, I reach into the pocket of my gown to retrieve it. My heart stops for a moment, seeing Asher’s name flash on and off on the screen. My grip tightens on the device, debating whether or not I should answer it. My heart ends up choosing for me, I tap on the screen, slowly bringing it to my ear. “Ava?” Asher’s disgruntled voice came on the line immediately. “I understand why you went with him, please. We need to talk, we can figure something out together. You don’t have to be with him.” I feel a stab in my chest, making my eyes blurry.“I swear to you Ava, I’ll figure something out. I love you so much, how could you leave me? You have

AVA My shirt rides up, bearing my underwear to his gaze. Naturally, I reach to pull it down, my eyes growing wider when he hovers over me. I look up at him, following the movement of his hand above my head. With one hand resting on the arm chair, the other moves into my hair. I coil, the only thing I could hear is the thumping of my heart. Using his pointed finger, he starts a deliberate slow slide from my forehead, pausing briefly at the tip of my nose. My eyes anxiously follows the movement, wondering where he was going with it. He stops again above my lip, making my vision hazy. “What are you so afraid of?” He whispers, lifting his gaze back to mine. His finger drops to my bottom lip, then continues to slide lower down my neck. A memory flashes across my mind, making my heart speed up. My eyes squeeze shut, terrified of what’s coming next. A ringing sound cut through the air, forcing him to a halt. My eyes snaps open, seconds tickles by as we both unremain unmoving. As if cha

AVA I wake up by a knock on the door. Sliding out of bed, still slightly drowsy, I open the door. Three maids walk in, each carrying about four bags of shopping bags on each arm. “Morning, Mrs. Demir, we trust that you slept well?” The first one asked, instructing the others on where to drop the items with a motion of her head. My eyes clear at once, nodding at them, I watch them leave the room the same way they come in. I pick up the first bag, emptying the content on the bed. It just happens to be everything I need for school today. I don’t bother with the rest, by the time Cade realises I’m never coming back, that will turn out to be the least of his worries. Bubbling with happiness, I walk into the bathroom to take a shower. About an hour later, I’m done getting ready and I’m walking my way downstairs. The table is set by a different chef this time. I glance around, half-expecting Cade to appear. I mean, all I have to do before is think of him, and he appears. “Mrs. Demir—“
