AVA One of the guards escorts a frighten Laylah and her kids into the room with us. The door closes right after, but I know he is still standing outside, keeping watch. “Ava, it’s so good to see you again.” She whispered, leaning over for a hug.“I’m sorry,” I whispered. “You don’t have to apologise for anything, the fact that you went to him in the first place. That was brave, it was a sacrifice I could never repay,” she answered.I nod, breaking apart from the hug to look at the one person I’ve been avoiding eye contact with the entire time. I only manage to take a step when a loud ringing fills the air, making me wince. A hear a body drop, and whip around just as the door is being thrown open. Cade appears, weapon in hands and finger on the trigger. Since Laylah is standing close to the entrance, he grabs her first, using her as a shield against the others. “Go on—“ he hissed, presenting to her Henshel. “Fucking shoot me, and watch your wife drop with me.” “Nobody shoot!” He

AVA “He-he-didn’t abduct me. I went with Asher because I’m in love with him. I have been in love with him since I was in college, and I wanted to marry him because I love him. You-you know that right?” I broke down, sobbing desperately. “I’ll do anything, take out your anger on me, but-but-don’t kill him—“ I yelp, my eyes snapping fearfully to him when I feel his grip tightened. I gulped, my lips quivering at the force of anger in his eyes. His eyes, they are blood shot and glistening with such fury that makes my knees threaten to give out. He pushed me back, harder. My head hit the wall, causing a mild tingling down my body. I starts struggling, wincing from how tight he’s holding me. I know I ask for his anger, his wrath but I’m not preferred for it. Just when I think he’s about to snap me in half, he lets go of me. Gripping his hair with both hands, he stalked away from me. He laughs, a slow monotonous sound that makes me flinch. He started towards me, my body shake, coiling

AVA I absently walk down the stairs, making my way into the kitchen after the men Arrow calls to help Cade change out his bloody clothes. Just as I arrive in the dining room, one of the maids passing by stops and approaches me. “Mrs Demir, I was on my way to you. You have a call from the security check point,” she extends the phone towards me.Puzzle, I take the phone from her, pressing it to my ear. “Hello?” “Good day Mrs Demir, are you expecting a delivery? It has been searched and we are calling to confirm if you authorise the delivery.” “Well, I’m expecting some clothes to be delivered so, if it happens to be that, then yes.” “Noted,” the line went dead after that.I hand the phone back to the maid, pausing when I recognize she’s the same woman whose cellphone I lend. Guilt settles over my chest as she takes the phone from me.“About your device, I’m so sorry. I’ll get you a new one.” “No, no,” she shook her head. “You don’t have to worry about that, Mrs Demir, the damage wa

AVA I drag in a shaky breath as the elevator slides open, revealing Cade on the other side. With his arms folded across his chest, legs braced apart, he stared on.I dart a look in Arrow’s direction, wondering if he told him about who I met up with, despite begging him not to. Although it was no surprise if he did, I didn’t expect his loyalty to be with me instead of his boss. From how they interact with each other, I almost want to believe they share a close friendship but I know Cade isn’t capable of anything of sort. The closer I get to where he stands, the slower my steps become. “Boss—“ “With me, now.” He hiss, turn and walks away. Arrow hands me the package, going after Cade. I stand there, watching until they both disappears from my view. Only then did I let out a puff of air fill with relief. “Rosita?” I called, walking into the kitchen. She appears a few seconds later. “Mrs Demir, is there anything I can help you with? Lunch? Snacks?” “No, I just wanted to give you th

AVA The second Cade goes still again, I immediately reach to place his head back on the coffee table, feeling like I could breathe properly again. With his head facing me, I take out one tablet, applying pressure on his cheeks to open his mouth. When his mouth cracks slightly open, I pause realizing it isn’t a wise decision to give someone medicine without water while they are passed out. Letting out a frustrating sigh, I got up from the floor, taking the leftover dishes back downstairs with me. The kitchen is empty when I walk in, I simply dump the plate into the sink, take out another glass cup and pour some water in it. I stroll back upstairs, finding Cade exactly where I left him. Settling down on the floor next to him once more, I force his mouth open. Pouring a small amount of water in his mouth, I immediately drop the tablets in before he swallows the water first without the drugs. He stirs, gulping down the content in his mouth. Finally! I place the glass on the coffee ta
