OLIVIA "Feel at ease, Princess." The words slithered across Alpha Vulcan's study like ice, and Olivia felt every hair on her body stand up. They had just returned from the dungeon where Luna Michelle, the Luna of Silvermoon Pack, handed Olivia over to Alpha Vulcan in place of Paula, her daughter. Olivia wasn't Paula Woodridge. She was Olivia Hawthorne! But who cared? If she even said it out loud, her mother Sanita and little sister Mae would die. Luna Michelle made that very clear on the five-hour drive here. So here she stood in Alpha Vulcan's study, dressed in rags, trying to breathe. "Do you know what it means," Vulcan said slowly, "to kill two birds with one stone, Princess?" The way he said Princess made Olivia's stomach turn. I'd rather you call me a slut and get it over with, she thought bitterly. Alpha Vulcan moved toward her with slow, deliberate steps, forcing her to retreat until her back pressed against the wall. Her hands clenched so tightly her nails bit into h

OLIVIA Olivia stared in shock at the man who was red as a bull in front of her. Why the hell would you do that?! Yara wailed. Olivia began to stagger backwards. It wasn't her intention to actually push him that hard. But this was her first kiss and it meant so much to her. Olivia Hawthorne what have you done? Offer a soothing apology now Olivia! Yara advised. Olivia nodded, but before she could react, Vulcan's dominance crashed over her like a tidal wave. His wolf imposed itself on hers, raw and commanding, and she felt Yara submit instantly. He covered the little distance she put between them in one long stride, then pulled her till there was no space between them. "You belong to me," he said coldly as he whispered against her mouth, his voice dark and possessive. "Body and soul. You'll give yourself to me anytime I want." Then he grabbed her face and kissed her again, harder this time, claiming her mouth with a hunger that left no room for resistance. Yara surged forwa

VULCAN The West Wing had wide corridors and large windows that let in natural light during the day. Vulcan's room was on the last floor along with his mother's quarters, the formal dining room, his private study, and the personal gym he'd installed last year. The floor below held the Luna's chambers, currently occupied by Paula, and on the same level were Liam and Maeve's rooms, positioned strategically so they could respond quickly if he needed them. He climbed the stairs alone, leaving Liam and Maeve to head to their own rooms, and pushed open the door to his quarters. The space was minimalist by design with clean lines, dark colors, a massive bed he rarely used for sleeping, and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the forest beyond. He stripped off his clothes and stepped into the shower, letting the hot water beat down on his shoulders and back, trying not to think about the scars covering his skin like a roadmap of pain. Luna Gwen had been creative with her punishments. She

Vulcan's POV Vulcan watched Paula across the table. Her face was pale, almost translucent under the chandelier light, and the soft blue dress she wore made her red curls stand out like fire against snow. She looked smaller somehow, delicate in a way that made something twist uncomfortably in his chest. Her hands trembled slightly as she stared at the mountain of shrimp he'd specifically ordered."Are you not going to eat?" His voice came out deeper than intended. She jumped, her eyes flickering to his before darting away. "I... I don't have much of an appetite, Your Grace."Vulcan paused, his wine glass hovering halfway to his mouth. Why?He felt annoyance flicker, then confusion. He'd asked the cooks of Silvermoon Pack for her favorite dish. They'd been very specific about the shrimp scampi and she had not eaten all day.Should the meal not at least excite her? She didn't even touch the food and avoided the plate like a plague. She reached for a small bowl of steamed greens and a

OLIVIAThe walk back to the chambers was a blur of high-ceilinged hallways and blinding fluorescent lights. The head maid walked a few steps ahead, her keys jingling softly against her hip. The silence was heavy, so Olivia tried to break it."May I ask your name?" she said softly. The woman stopped and turned, giving her a professional bow. "I am Martha, my lady. Head of the Packhouse staff.""Thank you, Ms. Martha." Martha didn't smile, just nodded and opened the heavy double doors to the Luna's suite. As soon as Olivia stepped inside, she bowed again and disappeared into the hallway. As Olivia turned back from the door, Paula was standing in the center of the room, arms crossed tightly over her chest. The second the door clicked shut, her face twisted into pure irritation."Where is Trisha?" Olivia asked, looking around.Paula let out a sharp, ugly sneer. "What? Am I not enough to serve you, my lady?" She spat the title like it was a slur.Olivia didn't have the energy for her dram
