Chapter 132Theron's POVI returned to my desk after Selene left, but her words continued to irritate me. I understood that she was unhappy about losing a responsibility she had handled for years, but I wasn't going to change a reasonable decision simply because she expected me to put her feelings first. Lyra had been in Ironveil for almost a year, and I saw no reason she should remain on the sidelines when she was capable of contributing to the pack.I spent the next hour reviewing reports from the various departments involved in the annual gathering before calling one of the senior staff members into my study. There were several arrangements to coordinate, and I wanted to ensure Lyra had access to everything she needed before she began making decisions."Make sure Lyra receives the records from previous gatherings, including the staff lists, accommodation arrangements, and schedules for the competition grounds," I instructed him as he stood before my desk. "She will need those d

Chapter 134Lyra's POV The first group of temporary maids arrived shortly after breakfast, filling the reception hall with quiet conversations and the occasional nervous laugh. I stood beside a table covered with their application forms, reviewing each name as the head housekeeper brought them forward for their interviews."Please form a line and wait until your name is called," I instructed, looking at the twelve women gathered before me. "We will assess your experience, suitability for the available positions, and ability to work with the rest of the household staff.” I cleared my throat. “If you have any questions about your assigned duties, you may ask them during your interview." I added. The women settled down, although a few continued whispering among themselves. I understood their nervousness. The annual gathering was an important event, and temporary positions offered opportunities to earn extra money and establish connections with members of visiting packs. Some of th

Chapter 136Theron's POVI was halfway through reviewing the reports from the eastern territory when Coren walked into my office with a stack of documents under his arm. He placed them on my desk and began updating me on the latest arrangements for the annual gathering, including the expected arrival dates of several visiting Alphas and the security measures being put in place around the estate."Has the head housekeeper confirmed the temporary staff assignments?" I asked, signing the last report before looking up at him."She has, Alpha Theron. The interviews were completed this afternoon, and the selected candidates have been assigned to their respective departments." Coren paused, studying my expression. "There was a small disagreement during the interviews, though." He added, and I put down my pen as my eyes found him. "One of the candidates wasn't satisfied with the position Lyra offered her. She wanted to work among the attendants serving the visiting Alphas, but those positi

Chapter 138Selene's POV The moon was already high in the sky when I slipped out of the estate through the eastern passage, pulling my cloak tighter around my shoulders. I had chosen the route carefully because it was rarely used after dark, so no one would find me here.I followed the narrow path leading into the woods, where the trees grew thick enough to conceal anyone standing beneath their branches. A faint light flickered ahead, and I quickened my steps when I spotted the two figures waiting near an old hunting shelter.Liora turned towards me first, her expression impatient, while the young woman beside her watched me with guarded curiosity. It was the same maid candidate who had challenged Lyra during the interviews and then withdrawn her application after failing to get the position she wanted."You are late, Selene, I came all the way from Ashveil, and I must return before dawn." Liora complained, folding her arms across her chest. "I had to make sure no one followed me

Chapter 140Theron's POVThe annual gathering had finally arrived, and Ironveil had never looked more impressive. The main courtyard had been transformed into a grand reception area, with decorated tables arranged beneath elegant canopies and the pack banners displayed along the surrounding walls. Servants moved between the guest quarters and the reception grounds, while guards stood at their designated posts to ensure the visiting packs were welcomed without incident.I stood near the entrance with Coren, receiving the visiting Alphas as their vehicles arrived. Each pack had sent representatives, and some had brought their Lunas, heirs, and senior warriors along with them. It was an important occasion for maintaining alliances, discussing trade arrangements, and demonstrating the strength of our respective territories."Alpha Theron," Alpha Kael greeted me as he approached, extending his hand. "Ironveil has outdone itself this year. I can already tell you've put considerable eff
