Kael’s POVThe scout’s words hit harder than the silver blade Rowan had driven into my side.“Three of the high-ranking warriors who were cleared after the sealing… they’re gone. Their rooms are empty. Their scents lead toward the lower levels. And this was left behind.”He held out a folded piece of parchment. Even before I opened it, I knew what it would show. The handwriting was precise. The details were exact. It was a map of the pack house’s lower levels — the old storage chambers, the sealed archives, and the narrow service tunnels that ran beneath the eastern wing. Places most of the pack did not even know existed.Elara stepped closer. The silver in her eyes caught the torchlight as she studied the map over my arm.“They’re not running,” she said quietly. “They’re going deeper.”The Warden examined the parchment with a grim expression. “The fragments are drawn to the seal inside your bond. If they believe there is a physical place in this house where the lock can be reached mo

Kael’s POVThe tunnels still stank of blood and ozone when we dragged the last of the three corrupted warriors into the light. Two were dead. The third knelt in chains of pure silver the Warden had woven on the spot, eyes flickering between his own terrified brown and that wrong silver-black. Whatever fragment had ridden him was still inside, trapped but not extinguished. It smiled through his mouth every few minutes, soft and patient, like it already knew how this would end.I stood over him, claws still extended, side burning where the silver blade’s poison refused to fully leave my blood. Elara stood at my shoulder. Silver light still leaked from the crescent scar on her wrist in thin, living threads. The lock inside our bond thrummed like a second heartbeat. Too loud. Too close. The entity had leaned hard against the seal during the fight. For three terrifying seconds I had felt the door bow inward. We had held.Barely.Lucian met us at the top of the eastern stairwell with a full

Elara’s POVThe voice did not fade when Kael pulled me tighter against him.It lingered inside the lock like smoke behind glass—soft, intimate, and certain.Three nights, little vessel. Three nights and I will finally wear your skin the way I was always meant to.I pressed my forehead to Kael’s chest and forced my breathing to steady. The silver scar on my wrist still pulsed with residual heat. Through the bond I felt Kael’s fury rise like a black tide, controlled but lethal. His arms banded around me as if he could physically keep the entity from reaching any deeper.“She’s getting louder,” I whispered.“I heard her.” His voice was low, almost calm. That calm was more dangerous than any snarl. “She is trying to rattle you before the ritual. Do not give her the satisfaction.”I nodded against him, but the words still sat under my skin like a promise. Three nights. The same number the Warden had given us. The same number Rowan had written in blood and silver-black ink.Kael guided me a

Elara’s POVThe howl that rose from the eastern forest did not belong to any wolf I had ever heard. It was longer. Lower. It carried a wet, broken edge that made the silver scar on my wrist flare in answer before I could stop it. Through the bond I felt Kael’s entire body go rigid against mine. In the space of a single breath he was out of bed, pulling on black pants and a shirt, already issuing orders through the pack link.“Stay here,” he said, voice flat and absolute. “Inner wards. Lucian will be at the door in under a minute.”I sat up, sheets pooled around my waist, still feeling the residual heat of him between my thighs. “Kael—”“No.” He crossed back to me, cupped the back of my neck, and kissed me once—hard, claiming, final. “If that thing is close enough to howl, it is close enough to test the walls. You do not leave these rooms until I return.”Then he was gone.I dressed quickly in dark clothes that would not hinder movement and stood at the window with the lights off. Belo

Elara’s POVThe third voice did not sound like the entity. It did not sound like the old blood either. It was quieter. Older. Almost kind. And it used a new name for me.Little key.I stood frozen at the window with Kael’s arms locked around my waist, the words still echoing inside the lock. Two nights. Every door opens at once. Through the bond I felt Kael’s entire body go rigid. His fury rose like black fire, controlled only by the iron discipline that had kept him Alpha this long.He turned me to face him, hands framing my jaw. “Describe it. Every detail.”“It felt… different,” I said. “Not hungry like the entity. Not possessive like the old blood. It felt like it was stating a fact. Like the outcome was already decided.”Kael’s eyes—midnight ice and absolute—searched mine. “The Warden needs to hear this. Now.”He did not wait for my agreement. He took my hand and led me through the inner corridors at a pace that made the silver-marked guards straighten as we passed. Lucian met us
