Tessy’s POV “Are you sure this is going to work out, Sophie?” I asked, my hands trembling slightly as sheer nerves ate away at me. “Of course it will,” Sophie reassured me, adjusting my collar and brushing a few loose strands of hair behind my shoulder. “You’ve faced enough rejection already—it’s time to go face this man head-on. Besides, it wasn’t easy for me to secure a meeting with him, so you can’t chicken out now.” She stepped back, giving me an appreciative look and a smug smile. “You look so goddamn good... Ryder is clearly rubbing off on you.” I shot her a look. “Let’s not talk about him.” “Right, right—it’s about you, not your handsome boyfriend,” she teased. “You’re unbelievable,” I muttered, rolling my eyes, which earned a quiet chuckle from her. “Come on, let’s go,” she said, taking my hand as we walked into the grand lobby of the luxury hotel. We took a seat in the waiting lounge, keeping an eye on the entrance. Minutes ticked by, and the man had yet to sh

Ryder’s POV“You’re not here to fight me, are you?” I asked, leaning back slightly and eyeing him up and down.“No,” Danny replied, his voice eerily calm.“Then why the hell are you here?” I pressed.“I came here to talk to you—”“Why, and who even let you in?!” I demanded.“I did,” Tristan chimed in from the hallway, a shit-eating grin playing on his lips as he leaned against the doorframe. “He was standing at the front door, and I thought, why not let him in?”Unbelievable. I shot Tristan a glare, but before I could tell him off, Danny stepped further into the room.“Can you get my girlfriend pregnant?” Danny asked flatly. My jaw practically hit the floor.Tristan’s grin vanished instantly. “Well... you don’t see that every day,” he muttered, looking just as completely stunned as I was.“What the fuck is wrong with you?!” I spat, staring at Danny like he’d lost his mind.“Look, I want to marry her and leave the country together,” Danny explained, his tone unsettlingly matter-of-fact

Ryder’s POVA slow, triumphant smirk spread across my lips. This is good.“Tristan is up in his room,” I said, pointing toward the stairs with a welcoming smile.“Thanks...” The girl hesitated, biting her lip. “Hmm... this might be a little TMI, but do you guys have any condoms here? I didn’t bring any, and I just want to make sure he has some.”Oh, this is getting even better.“We have plenty of condoms,” I reassured her smoothly. “You don’t have to worry about a thing. Go on up, he’s waiting.”“Thanks!” she chirped, heading straight up the staircase.I shifted my gaze over to Tessy. She was completely frozen on the spot, her face deathly pale, staring at the stairs like she’d just seen a ghost.“Are you okay?” I asked, stepping toward her and snapping her out of her daze.“I... I have to go,” she choked out, turning toward the door. Before she could take two steps, I caught her by the wrist and slammed her against the wall, trapping her between my arms.“What the hell do you think y

Ryder’s POV“Wow, Dad... you’re really going all out for tonight,” I said, a bitter edge of annoyance coating my words as I watched him adjust the dining table arrangements. “You’re throwing a dinner party in the exact house we built with Mom.”My dad paused, letting out a sharp sigh. “Not now, Ryder. Go upstairs and dress up nicely. I want tonight to be perfect.”My jaw tightened into a hard frown. “Of course, Dad. It’ll be absolutely perfect.”I turned on my heel and headed upstairs toward my old bedroom, annoyance thrumming beneath my skin. I hadn't stepped foot in this house in years. Walking through these hallways felt eerie; every corner was steeped in memories of my mother. My eyes drifted to the framed canvas paintings lining the walls. Mom and I had painted every single one of them together. Despite the ache in my chest, a small, nostalgic smile pulled at my lips.“Don’t worry, Mom,” I whispered softly to the empty hall. “I remember what you told Dad—that you didn’t want him

Ryder’s POV“I think there’s trouble,” Owen said, pointing his stick toward Danny, who was standing by the rink barrier whispering into Coach’s ear. “What do you think he wants? He’s not telling Coach you’re messing with his girl, is he?”“What the fuck are you talking about?” I snapped, annoyance flaring in my chest. “I don’t even speak to Rebecca anymore.”“Okay, okay! Don’t get all defensive about it—I was just messing around,” Owen chuckled, throwing his hands up in mock surrender. “I’m skating away now before you headbutt me.”He glided off, leaving me letting out a heavy sigh of frustration. What the hell is Danny doing over there? What are they talking about?Danny finally walked away, leaving Coach talking to Tristan. A second later, both of their gazes shifted across the ice and landed directly on me.What the fuck is going on?Tristan skated over to where I was leaning against the board.“Danny has officially lost his fucking mind,” Tristan grunted, unbuckling his helmet str
