[Pov: Amelia]I watched from my cage as servants came and went, their arms laden with boxes and bundles. The room that had once been so grand and imposing was slowly being stripped bare.Ruby slept through most of it, her tiny body curled against my side. I envied her ability to find peace in the middle of all this madness. Every time a servant passed too close to the cage, I tensed, my feathers ruffling with anxiety."Easy," I told myself. "They're just doing their jobs. They're not going to hurt you." I can’t also always trust the system to save meBut the cage felt smaller with each passing hour.Eventually, the last crate was carried out and the servants filed out, leaving behind an almost empty room and a loud silence.I was alone.Well, alone except for Ruby, who was still snoring softly against my side.I stared at the room, my mind racing with questions I couldn't answer. Where were we going? What would the vampire clans be like? I can’t remember any vampire stuff happening in

Amelia's POVThe carriage swayed gently as it rolled along the uneven road, the rhythmic clatter of hooves and wheels creating a hypnotic melody. I watched from my cage by Kealen's side as the palace grew smaller and smaller in the distance, until it was nothing more than a speck from afar.It felt strange, leaving behind the only place I had known since arriving in this world. She had barely stirred since we left, mostly eating and sleeping was her routine plus being exhausted from everything that had happened. I couldn't blame her. I was exhausted too."You know," I said through our telepathic link, "for someone who's supposed to be banished, you seem awfully relaxed."Kealen was leaning

Amelia's POVThe carriage fell into a heavy silence, broken only by Mia's ragged breathing and the distant sound of the guards finishing off the remaining bandits outside. The man on the floor lay still, his blood seeping into the wooden planks beneath him, creating a dark stain that seemed to grow larger by the second.Mia hadn't moved. She stood frozen, the sword still clutched in her trembling hands, her grey eyes fixed on the body at her feet. Her face had gone pale— paler than I thought possible and her lips were parted in a silent scream that never quite escaped."I killed him," she whispered again, her voice cracking. "I actually killed him."I shook off the lingering dizziness from being thrown against the wall and hopped closer to her, my heart aching at the sight of her distress. She looked so young in that moment—just a child who had been forced to do something no child should ever have to do.The carriage door swung open, and Kealen appeared, his sword still drawn. His eye
