Chapter 1“I did it!” Skye longed to say those words when she graduated and when her boyfriend finally allowed them to take the relationship public, but no. Jonas wanted to wait for the right time.“You have to trust me, Skye. There is a perfect time, and we just have to wait for it.” Jonas cooed on the other side of the phone. He had called her earlier while she was stressing over the final year photography project that will enable her to graduate. Her voice softened. "We've been together for almost a year," she continued. "And I know your career is important, but..." She swallowed. "I just don't understand why we still have to hide."The silence on the other end lasted a few seconds, then Jonas sighed. "Skye." She hated when he said her name like that. "I'm not hiding you because I'm ashamed of you.""I just mean..." She struggled to explain. "Everyone is announcing their relationships now. Your teammates do it. Other athletes do it. People aren't even paying that much attention any

Chapter 3The first thing Skye noticed when she arrived at the hill climb was the noise. The entire mountain road felt alive.Engines roared through the night air, headlights cut through the darkness, and hundreds of people gathered along the barriers waiting for one person.Kai Sturm.Skye stood near the entrance, holding her camera tightly against her chest as she looked around. Honestly, she had expected a small underground race. She had not expected this. There were people wearing jackets with his name printed on them. Fans held up phones, waiting for a glimpse of him. Riders greeted each other like family, but every conversation eventually returned to the same topic.Kai."The legendary Sturm is finally racing again.""I heard he hasn't lost this route in three years.""He doesn't just race. He destroys everyone."Skye listened quietly, and it was strange to her. Yesterday, he had just been the angry man who almost hit her with a motorcycle.Today, she was realizing that he was s

Chapter 5.Skye stayed bent over at the side of the road, her hands braced against her knees as she struggled to catch her breath. This was, without question, the most humiliating week of her life. First, she had been publicly branded a boyfriend snatcher. Then she'd almost been run over. She had chased the man who nearly hit her across a hill climb race, stalked him outside a café. Gotten rescued by him from her manipulative ex.Accepted a ride on his motorcycle......and thrown up less than five minutes later.Just wonderful. She squeezed her eyes shut, wishing the pavement would simply open beneath her and swallow her whole.Behind her, there was an awkward silence. Kai Sturm wasn't sure what he was supposed to do. He had dealt with broken bones, drunken club members, bar fights, and engines that refused to cooperate. But a woman throwing up because she'd ridden on the back of his motorcycle? That was new.He glanced toward the small storage compartment on the side of his bike befo

Chapter 7. By the third day, Skye had come to one undeniable conclusion. Kai Sturm was the worst teacher in Germany. She sat stiffly on the training motorcycle in the far corner of the courtyard, both hands gripping the handlebars so tightly her fingers had begun to ache. Sweat gathered beneath the borrowed helmet despite the cool morning breeze. "Relax your shoulders," Kai said from where he stood with his arms folded. "I am relaxed!" She snapped at him for the umpteenth time, but her snapping doesn't make him any less insufferable. "No, you're not, you have to…" "I am not?" She snarled, holding his gaze, but this guy isn't backing down. "No." Skye shot him an annoyed look. "Would you stop saying 'no' to everything?" Kai looked completely unfazed. "No."

Chapter 9The mountain disappeared beneath a blanket of white.Fog rolled lazily over the winding road, swallowing trees, guardrails, and everything beyond a few meters. Even the spectators gathered near the starting line looked like shadows drifting through clouds. It was the worst visibility the hill climb had seen in months.Kai stood beside his motorcycle, staring at the course ahead. His jaw tightened. He didn't like this, not one bit.Across from him, Skye finished fastening the strap beneath her helmet. Her fingers trembled slightly, though she wasn't sure whether it was from nerves or excitement.Kai walked over. "We're postponing."She looked up. "What? Why?!" She was more than ready to get this over with."The fog." He glanced toward the road again. "It's too thick."For a moment, Skye thought she had heard him wrong. Her eyebrows rose.He looked at her without expression. "You can't even see the first bend.""I memorized the road." She shrugged."Not this road." He argued.
