Chapter 53.The morning came a quiet light, as Kai lay on his back, one arm flung across his forehead, the other draped heavily over Skye’s waist.  He didn't move, but the expansion of his chest against her shoulder told her he was awake. Skye traced the ink on his forearm, her fingertip following the jagged lines of a tattoo that disappeared beneath the duvet. "The drive is six hours if I push it," Kai murmured. His voice was a low rasp, thick with sleep. Skye shifted, pressing her cheek closer to his chest. She could hear the steady, drumming beat of his heart.
