LYALLAfter what felt like hours of fighting my wolf in the darkened room, I finally wrestled it back under control. By the time the red haze cleared, both of us were wrecked. The guilt was so heavy it sat on my chest like it were physical, and neither of us could explain what the hell had happened. I'd been trying to hold it together one minute and tearing our bedroom apart the next.It all began with Raven. Somewhere in the last few hours, the fixation had taken hold and refused to let go. I couldn’t stop thinking about her—her voice, the way she looked when she was trying not to smile, and the strength she carried without even realizing it.I’d tried reminding myself that I was married and that Sable was everything I had ever claimed I wanted. But the territorial surge grew, irrational and furious, every time I imagined Raven out there in California without me.The more I tried to shove it down, the hotter it burned until the only thing that made sense to the animal inside me was g

RAVEN“Your eyes... why are your eyes doing that?”Leland looked away, blinking hard like he hadn’t realized it before. He sucked in a slow breath and then looked at me again, and the intensity was still there, but the strange glow was gone.“Contacts,” he said. That explained a lot, and I felt my own expression shift. Oh. So Lyall must have been wearing contacts that night too. He had gorgeous golden eyes that everyone always talked about, but he could still wear gold contacts for extra effect, I told myself.I thought it was strange how they seemed to glow for a second, and I had put it down to the light. I pulled in a deep

LYALLFeeling like I had no choice, I agreed with my wolf’s crazy plan despite every rational part of me screaming that it was reckless. I walked out of the penthouse, already deciding I would only shift my face, just enough to sharpen my senses and pull her scent from the air.But as soon as I stepped into the corridor, I realized how ridiculous that idea was. The main entrance of the thirteen-story building was illuminated by bright security lights. If I tried anything on the front steps, the night doorman inside would spot the change instantly.Another idea sparked, and I rushed to the car. The windows were heavily tinted. I could open the street-side door slightly, lean out, and let the wolf take over my face for a few seconds without anyone noticing. That was the direction the scent would have taken anyway.I slid into the driver’s seat, closed the door, and did it. The moment the shift settled over my features, scents layered themselves in perfect clarity, hers cutting through e
