Rose's POVThe fortress felt different when we returned. Warmer. Safer. Like coming home after a long, cold night. The wolves who'd stayed behind rushed to meet us, their faces tight with worry."You're alive," Lyra breathed. She'd been one of the first to run when the battle started. "I thought—I was so scared—""I'm okay." I squeezed her hand. "We all are."But we weren't all okay. Two wolves hadn't come back. Their bodies were still out there, somewhere in the dark forest. The thought made my stomach churn.I went to the infirmary. The wounded wolves were already being treated. I walked among them, letting the silver light rise from my hands. Healing. Mending. Saving.By the time I was done, I was exhausted. My vision blurred. My legs gave out.Strong arms caught me."Easy," Aiden said. "You've done enough.""I could have done more.""You saved everyone who could be saved. That's enough." He

Rose's POVThe morning after Magnus arrived, I woke early. The hum was quiet but expectant. Like it knew something important was about to happen.I dressed quickly and went to the courtyard. Magnus was already there, standing in the center, his eyes closed. He looked like he was listening to something I couldn't hear."Good," he said without opening his eyes. "You're early.""How did you know it was me?""I could feel you. The bloodline connects us." He opened his eyes. "Today, we start your real training.""Real training?""Gunnar taught you to fight. Aiden taught you to call the power. But I'm going to teach you to become one with it." He gestured for me to stand across from him. "The Old Moon blood isn't just power, Rose. It's part of you. It's been part of you since the day you were born. You just need to learn to listen to it.""I've been listening. It talks to me all the time.""Listening is diffe

Rose's POVThe weeks that followed blurred together. Training with Magnus every morning. Training with Gunnar every afternoon. Healing the wounded in between. And at night, lying awake, feeling the hum pulse beneath my skin.I was getting stronger. Faster. More controlled. The silver light came when I called it. Held steady when I commanded it. Faded when I released it.But something else was changing too. Something I didn't fully understand. The hum was connecting me to the pack. To the land. To the wolves around me. I could feel their emotions. Their fears. Their hopes. It was overwhelming at first. But slowly, I learned to filter it. To focus on what mattered."You're becoming more sensitive," Magnus said one morning. "The bloodline is awakening fully.""What does that mean?""It means you're starting to feel what the Old Moon wolves felt. The connection to everything around you." He studied me. "It's a gift. But it c

Rose's POVThe morning came with news. Scouts had returned from the eastern territories. They'd found something. Not Magnus. Something else."A pack," Aiden said, his voice tight. "A large one. They're camped near the eastern border.""Are they hostile?" Gunnar asked."Unknown. They haven't attacked. But they haven't left either." Aiden looked at the map. "They're waiting for something.""Or someone," Magnus said quietly.Everyone looked at him."They're Old Moon descendants," Magnus continued. "I've sensed them for weeks. They've been tracking me. Waiting for me to make a move.""Old Moon descendants?" I asked. "I thought we were the only ones.""We're not. There are others. Scattered. Hidden. The Shadow Wolves have been hunting them for generations." Magnus met my eyes. "They've come to find us. To join us.""How do you know?""Because I reached out to them. Through the bloodline." H

Rose's POVThe days passed in a blur of preparation. Training. Planning. Fortifying. The fortress became a hive of activity. Wolves everywhere. Warriors drilling. Healers stocking supplies. Families preparing for the worst.I moved through it all like a ghost. Present but not fully there. The hum was constant now. A steady pulse beneath my skin. It connected me to everything. Every wolf. Every emotion. Every fear."You're carrying too much," Magnus said one morning. We were in the training ground. I'd just finished a session with Gunnar."I'm carrying what I have to.""No. You're carrying what you think you have to." He stepped closer. "You're not responsible for everyone's feelings, Rose. Only your own.""But I can feel them. All of them. The fear. The hope. The desperation.""That's the bloodline. It makes you sensitive to others. But you don't have to absorb their emotions." He met my eyes. "You need to learn to prote
