It was all a calculated lie. Once Joanna returned home that summer, they conveniently changed their minds. Back then, naive and desperate for affection, Joanna actually believed they just loved her too much to let her move away again. Instead, she ended up working a grueling summer job for pocket change, completely broke and forced to give up on her degree.A sharp knock at the door interrupted her thoughts. Her takeout had arrived. After paying the delivery driver, she sat down and opened the container. Steak and potatoes, cooked to absolute perfection. She took a bite and closed her eyes in pure bliss. Five years of starvation made the hot meal taste like heaven. Even the sting of an ice-cold cola felt like a miracle. Joanna smiled a bit. Even though it was a dream, I truly feel like I have lived through every missed meal of the past five years. As she finished her meal, she began mapping out her next steps. Suddenly, a memory struck her like lightning. My great-grandmother's emeral

She stopped at a quiet sandwich shop for lunch. While eating, she pulled up a booking app and secured a luxury suite at the hotel closest to her grandfather's bank. Her current student apartment was no longer safe; her family knew the address and could corner her easily. But staying in this coastal town for a few more weeks after the apocalypse was a tactical necessity. The local shipping ports were a goldmine of resources. She needed to map them out now so she could raid them the night the world ended, right before she fled inland to escape the mega-tsunamis.Vehicles and weapons were next on her checklist. In her dream, she hadn't gained access to firearms until she joined Drew’s faction. Obtaining guns illegally right now would be too risky, so she decided to settle for high-end crossbows and combat knives for her initial armory.Thinking of Drew left a bitter taste in her mouth. She was going to stay as far away from him as possible in this life. While she didn't think he had dire

Julian paled, the arrogance completely draining from him. "I’ve suspected a mole... but we have no proof.""It's John," Joanna said, the name striking him like a physical blow. "Your cousin. He hates you, Julian. He wants you ruined, and eventually, he’s going to try to kill you. Liquidate your assets now. Pull your money out. Don’t fight for the company.""Even if it’s John, I can save it," Julian argued, his voice tense, though his eyes pleaded with her for answers. He was completely hooked, trusting this strange, captivating woman who held many secrets. "I have plans. I can make a comeback in two years.""Your company cannot be saved," Joanna interrupted, her tone firm but strangely tender. "But you can be. Take your billions and convert them into food, medicine, and a ton of firearms, and solar-powered freezers. Build stashes heading west toward Evercrest. Do it in the next six months.""Why six months?" Julian asked. He reached out, his hand hovering over hers, his eyes burning i

Exiting the shack, she walked the perimeter of her new domain. The usable ground now stretched a lot farther before hitting the boundary fog. Nothing could go past the fog but it was so much larger than before. She thought she would have to stockpile supplies on her journey but now, she mentally recalibrated herself. Could she stockpile everything in her space? Is there a limit to what she can keep in here? Suddenly, she spotted something vibrant near the edge. Joanna sprinted over, dropping to her knees in sheer shock. It was grass. Genuine, nutrient-rich green grass.Tears of hope pricked her eyes. Her pocket dimension wasn't just a stagnant vault; it was a living ecosystem capable of agriculture. She would need to systematically hoard heirloom seeds and industrial farming tools over the next few months. If she can successfully grow vegetables she would become a powerhouse in the apocalypse. Maybe she could even become one of the great survivors on the leaderboard the way Julian H

She shoved the earrings, a thick stack of emergency cash, and several bearer bonds into her backpack. Relocking the safe, she carefully realigned the painting. She had what she came for, but a sudden thought made her pause. The food supply.Keeping her head down and slipping into her old role as the invisible, submissive daughter, she walked past the bustling event staff and slipped unnoticed into the grand kitchen pantry. In her dream, this massive walk-in room had been overflowing with luxury ingredients. After the collapse, Gwen had used their remaining capital to buy truckloads of grain and non-perishables, intending to barricade themselves inside the mansion and wait for the military. But Alice had foolishly invited her wealthy friends to take shelter with them, and those elites had stolen half their rations within a month. This time, you won't even have a foundation to stand on, Joanna thought. She looked at the floor-to-ceiling shelves packed with heavy sacks of flour, industri
