CHAPTER 9: MON IS DAY"Fuck! Monday!"Audrae groaned dramatically, burying her face deeper into her pillow before rolling onto her back. She stared blankly at the white ceiling, as if glaring at it hard enough would magically erase the day from existence."I fucking hate Mondays!"Every Monday felt like the universe had a personal grudge against her.It wasn't because she hated studying. It was the feeling of starting over every single week. Walking into classrooms full of unfamiliar faces. Being surrounded by people she didn't know. Having to make small talk. Introduce herself. Smile politely. It was exhausting. She let out another long groan before finally dragging herself out of bed."Fine..." she muttered under her breath. "Let's get this over with."Despite having absolutely zero motivation, she still went through her usual morning routine.Skincare first.A light layer of makeup next. Not because she wanted to impress anyone—but because looking presentable somehow made Mondays a

CHAPTER 11The first few weeks of the semester passed in a blur of lectures, quizzes, and endless problem sets.Every morning, Audrae woke up telling herself the same thing.Maybe today, it'll finally make sense. It never did.She stared at pages filled with debit and credit entries, taxation formulas, journal entries, and financial statements that all seemed to blur together into meaningless numbers. No matter how hard she listened during class, everything her professors explained slipped through her mind before she could even process it.It wasn't because she wasn't trying. She was trying too hard.Every night ended with advance reading, every morning started with reviewing yesterday's lesson, every vacant period became another study session.Yet somehow....she still felt like she was falling behind.Thankfully, Brianna stayed beside her in almost every class, patiently explaining concepts whenever she noticed Audrae zoning out.Without her...Audrae wasn't sure how she would've surv

CHAPTER 12"Thanks, Eli."Audrae offered him a tired smile before stepping out of the car and slinging her backpack over one shoulder. The cool evening breeze brushed against her face as she stood in front of the dormitory, exhaustion weighing down every part of her body.Elijah flashed his usual carefree grin before lightly ruffling her hair."I always got your back, Aud."She chuckled softly. "I know."There was a brief pause before she looked at him again. "And... I got yours too."Elijah's smile softened; he knew her well enough to recognize that look. It wasn't the bright, mischievous grin she always wore whenever they teased each other. This one was different. Smaller. Weaker. Like she was forcing herself to believe everything was okay.He sighed quietly before gently tapping the top of her head. "What you heard today... leave it today."Audrae looked at him.Elijah continued, "You don't have to understand everything overnight. Learning takes time. You're trying, and that's alre

Then... a genuine smile appeared.Small.But real."Yeah," he quietly admitted, not looking away. "I think I did."For a brief moment, no one spoke. The only sounds inside the dining room were the soft clinking of utensils and the steady hum of the electric fan against the humid night air. Some decisions didn't have a right answer. Only the answer you were willing to live with. The heavy atmosphere didn't last long—it never did whenever Elijah was around. He shoveled another spoonful of rice into his mouth before pointing his chopsticks straight at Audrae."Speaking of opportunities..."Audrae looked up, blinking. "Hmm?"A mischievous grin slowly spread across Elijah's face. "May nalaman ako tungkol sa'yo."Audrae immediately frowned, crossing her arms. "Ano na naman?"Elijah wiggled his eyebrows dramatically. "Kinakausap ka raw ni Alexander."The table went dead silent. Kenji casually looked up from his plate, his expression completely unreadable.Audrae rolled her eyes so hard it al

Audrae couldn't stop smiling.Even after Coach Sarah had called her over, she remained standing in front of Kenji for another second. She folded her arms.Studying him.Kenji noticed. One eyebrow lifted."Ano?"Audrae clicked her tongue."Ang unfair mo."He blinked."Ha?""You helped me..."She gestured toward him."...and you didn't even let me thank you properly."Kenji shrugged as though it were nothing."Hindi naman kailangan..I wasn't expecting anything in return.""Exactly."She pointed at him."Kaya unfair."Justin quietly whispered to Aaron,"Ito na..."Aaron nodded dramatically."Ramdam ko na."Audrae placed both hands on her hips.A determined smile spread across her face."Okay.""Decision made."Kenji looked genuinely confused."Anong decision?"She smiled proudly."Ililibre kita."The boys reacted instantly."AY!" Elijah shouted."Favoritism!"Matt immediately raised his hand."Objection!"Justin looked offended."Kami rin tumutulong sa'yo minsan ah!"Aaron pointed at himself."Ako nga em
