Chapter 1

"I am willing to accept the Alpha of the Dawn Pack as my mate," I said. The Alpha, Lucian Vaughn, looked at me in surprise. After a few seconds of silence, he finally spoke, "I've heard the Alpha of the Dawn Pack is violent and ruthless. Giselle, are you sure? And what about my sons, Dean and Harvey?"Hearing their names made me think of Dean Vaughn's birthday half a month ago.I had spent half a month embroidering a one-of-a-kind cloak for him. Just as I was about to knock on the door of his study to give him that gift, I suddenly heard his voice inside."I was young and ignorant before. I only ever saw Giselle as a sister."His voice was as gentle as ever, but his words felt like a knife stabbing straight through my heart. On my 17th birthday, Dean and Harvey Vaughn had promised to stay by my side forever, to protect me and spoil me.But now, everything had changed. The pain in my chest spread through my entire body. I stood frozen, feeling as if the warmth was slowly drainin

Chapter 2

I never imagined I'd end up with someone living under my roof without ever being invited. That someone was Peggy. She linked her arm through mine as if we were close friends and said, "Giselle, the Full Moon Festival is only a few days away. Have you decided who you're going to choose?"The Full Moon Festival was the most sacred and important ceremony for werewolves. It was the night we chose our mates.I noticed that when Peggy asked me that question, Dean and Harvey both looked away. I knew exactly what they were trying to avoid. In the past, seeing them act this way would have hurt me. After all, they had spent 15 years by my side, protecting and caring for me.When my wolf first awakened, I couldn't handle the power and fell into a coma for seven days. Dean stayed by my side, barely getting any sleep as he took care of me.To help restore my health, Harvey braved a blizzard alone to pick Pureflame Grass and nearly fell off a cliff.Sometimes, I wished I'd never agreed to let

Chapter 3

That night, I dreamed about the day my father died again. He had taken a silver dagger from a vampire to save Dean and Harvey. With his dying breath, he had pleaded with them, "After I'm gone, Giselle will have no one left to rely on. Please, you have to protect her."I woke up with a start. My forehead was covered in cold sweat. It took me a long time to finally calm down. The next morning, when I went to the dining room for breakfast, Peggy was already there.I noticed the red marks on her neck, but I pretended not to see them.Peggy smiled and walked toward me. "How about we make a bet? Let's see whether the twins will choose you or me."I furrowed my brows, not wanting to talk to her at all. Before I could walk away, she suddenly picked up her cup and poured the hot coffee over her head.Harvey heard her scream and rushed over. When he saw her wet hair and tearful eyes, he instinctively shoved me away. His strength sent me stumbling backward, and I fell hard onto the floo

Chapter 4

The day I left to go to the Dawn pack, the Full Moon Festival arrived as scheduled.Standing by the bonfire, Harvey looked down at me with a blank expression. "Giselle, I'm going to ask Peggy to be my dance partner tonight."I knew why he was speaking to me in such a cold, distant tone. He was afraid I'd fail to take the hint and cling to him as I used to when we were children."I hope you two have a good time," I said indifferently.Harvey was caught off warrior for a moment.Dean glanced at me, looking like he was about to say something, but I spoke before he could. "Dean, whoever you choose as your dance partner is up to you. You don't need to tell me."Dean's brows drew together. His eyes were filled with emotions I couldn't quite read. There was confusion and perhaps even a hint of indignation.Without looking at them, I went back to my room, closed the door, and started packing.I had lived in that house for 15 years, and my room was filled with gifts from Dean and Harvey

Chapter 5

The Dawn pack was located high up in the snowy mountains, where the terrain was harsh and treacherous. Just getting there took a full day.Sitting inside the carriage, I noticed the sky growing dark. It looked like a blizzard was on its way.We were passing through a dense forest known for its heavy fog. If we didn't make it out before the snow started, we could easily lose our way and get trapped inside. But I never expected a few men with pale skin and sharp fangs to appear before the blizzard struck. They stood several steps away, their red eyes fixed on the convoy. It was a vampire ambush.I gritted my teeth and tightened my grip on the silver blade I carried for self-defense. I was ready to cut through my cumbersome wedding dress if I had to fight. But the danger I expected never came. When I opened my eyes, a black wolf was standing in front of the carriage. It was huge and powerfully built, with jet-black fur. It let out a warning growl at the vampires. Then, in a flash,

Sawyer reached over and opened the drawer of the nightstand. His brows drew together. I could tell he was in pain."Do you remember this?" He pulled a red velvet box from the drawer and opened it. Inside lay a necklace. Moonlight streamed through the floor-to-ceiling windows, illuminating the pendant. It was a crest depicting a moon wrapped in thorns, the symbol of my mother's fallen pack. The sight of it unlocked a memory I had buried for years.17 years ago, during a brutal, once-in-a-century blizzard. I went hunting for food with my father. On our way home, I spotted a dying rogue wolf buried under knee-deep snow.My father dug him out and carried him to the campfire. I kept dipping my finger in water and gently rubbing it over his cracked lips.Half an hour later, he finally woke up.Once his eyes adjusted to the light, he saw my father and me. Then, he bared his fangs and growled. "Did he send you two to kill me as well?""We're from the Snowmoon pack," I explained gentl

Chapter 7

After I moved into Aslan Manor, Sawyer made sure I had everything I needed within just a few days. The walk-in closet was filled with beautiful dresses he had personally chosen for me, and the vanity was covered in expensive jewelry."Giselle, you deserve every good thing in the world," Sawyer said lovingly. The maids at the manor treated me with nothing but respect. They never looked down on me for being from the Snowmoon pack. I knew it was all because of Sawyer. One afternoon, I was sitting by the floor-to-ceiling window when Audrey Hatley, one of the more cheerful maids, brought me afternoon tea."Ms. Rose, you look just like the girl in that painting in the study. But actually, you're a hundred times prettier than her."I was puzzled. "What painting?"Audrey immediately covered her mouth. "N-Nothing… I'm sorry, Ms. Rose. I shouldn't have said anything."She hurriedly set down the tea and left the room without another word.Sawyer had given me free rein to go anywhere in t

Chapter 8

The full moon hung high overhead, casting its bright light over the ceremonial grounds of the Dawn pack. Sawyer and I stood facing each other at the center of the altar for our mating ceremony, as the Alpha and the rest of the pack looked on. Sawyer lowered his head and gently bit my nape with his fangs. From that moment on, we were bound together forever, body and soul. The Alpha then led us through our vows. Sawyer and I promised to stay together through sickness and health, for richer and poorer, and stand by each other through life and death. After the ceremony, we returned to the manor. That night was our mating night. Only by consummating the bond could our souls fully unite, making us true mates. I sat on the edge of the bed, unable to hide how nervous I was. Sawyer, on the other hand, seemed perfectly at ease. He poured himself a glass of red wine and came over to me. I reached out and took it from him. "Don't be nervous," Sawyer said softly. "If you're not re
