All Chapters of Sunlight, that I see: Chapter 21 - Chapter 30

An incredible seven days spent in Dubai. Seconds and minutes of pure, careless bliss. A couple discovering sides of themselves they had never imagined. Melano didn’t let herself think about anything; she knew that the moment she started overthinking, everything would go down the drain. Alistair was the same—he simply didn't want to go back. Even at night, he resented spending time sleeping, feeling it was a waste. They had the time of their lives together, rarely leaving the penthouse. Still, Melano didn't forget her work, diligently attending business meetings and sessions. Whenever she was away, Alistair prepared surprises for her, spoiling her with gifts. A new piece of gold jewelry every evening was no small matter. Despite her warnings that she wouldn't accept gifts, he stubbornly kept buying expensive pieces, placing them around her room—sometimes under her pillow, sometimes on her desk, and sometimes by the bathroom sink."These are just toys, play with them, and if you want, t

For a moment, they looked at each other silently. Then Alistair broke it.“You have a beautiful apartment. Mind giving me the full tour?”“It’s not that big, but feel free to look around for yourself if you’d like,” Melano offered softly.Alistair took a quick walk through the tastefully decorated space. His eyes naturally gravitated toward her bed, it looked huge and incredibly inviting. On her desk, Melano’s laptop sat open alongside books and neat stacks of folders. It was obvious she worked hard and read extensively.“What are we going to do, Alistair?” Melano asked, unable to hold back any longer. She desperately needed to know how he viewed the complication that had placed their entire relationship in jeopardy.“You and I could do plenty of wonderful things together,” Alistair deflected with a teasing half-smile, but the immediate shift in Melano’s expression made him realize his lighthearted tone was wildly out of place.“I’ll tell you once more, I don’t love Luisa, and no one

Almost everything was ready for the engagement. The space in the backyard of Alistair's house was arranged very beautifully. The wide staircase leading to the yard, the marble columns, and the decorative statues were adorned with white cloth and flowers. The guest tables were also beautifully decorated, and a small stage was set up where the invited band was supposed to perform. Bonnie hired additional service staff. The best dishes were being prepared.Everyone was bustling about happily from the morning. Alistair's parents had also arrived and were actively keeping an eye on everything. The plan was that after the engagement, the couple was to go to the Bahamas.Bonnie was very anxious with happiness. She got ready at home and looked truly very good in a simple, short white dress. Roughly like the one Melano wore at the corporate party. She had white flowers secured in her hair and wore light, bridal makeup.Alistair avoided the preparations from the morning, along with David. But Alistair and Melano could hardly be said to be living; what they had was no life at all. Both were suffering terribly. Even though Melano had calculated and weighed everything carefully in advance before coming to crash Alistair’s engagement, she was now overwhelmed by her conscience. She kept wondering whether she had made the right choice. Although, she had no second thoughts about returning; she was simply unsure whether showing up at the engagement ceremony itself had been the right move. Wouldn't it have been better to call his phone quietly?Maybe that would have spared him the shock and embarrassment he went through. In any case, it was too late now. Everything was in the past, and Melano could erase none of it, neither from her own mind nor from Alistair's.She threw herself actively back into her company’s work. Nino, Lazare, and a few interns the firm had hired on over the past year were thrilled to see her; her return breathed new life into the law firm.Melano began an

For several days, Alistair fought with himself. In the end, he decided to face Melano in person. Of course, he didn’t tell anyone about his plan. But he had nothing to hide either, so he simply went straight to her office. That day, Melano was giving a seminar to the interns. She had about ten young trainees in a glass-walled conference room on the second floor, giving a presentation on resolving international disputes through arbitration. The receptionist sent Alistair straight upstairs and told him to wait there. He slowly walked up the stairs and stopped in the small space outside the conference room. Through the glass wall, their eyes met.Melano was deeply shaken when she saw him, but she didn’t let it show. She continued with the seminar as if nothing had happened.Twenty-five minutes later, the session ended for a break. Melano handed the interns over to her assistant and stepped outside. Her mood was far from good, and she had no idea what to expect.“Hello, Alistair. I didn’t
