All Chapters of His True Love Makes Me Starve: Chapter 1 - Chapter 8

Sophia York dumped a large bag of groceries onto the coffee table and turned to my husband, Ivan Jefferson. "Lily can't have any of these," she said. "Why don't you give them to your parents instead?"Here we go again.Over the years, more than half of the pastries and yogurts that I'd bought had disappeared for the same reason. Ivan gave her a dismissive wave. "Why go through all that trouble? Since she can't eat them, you can have them."And just like that, the groceries were carried into the living room and turned into Sophia's."Don't worry about all that junk food," Ivan coaxed, slipping an arm around my waist. "I'll buy you other snacks, okay?"He never lived up to his word. Instead, he'd always tell me to put up with my cravings a little longer."I'm going to move the knife rack, Ivan. Lily won't mind, right?" Sophia's voice rang out from the kitchen. Before he could feed me another blueberry, Ivan paused. Then, he turned around and immediately walked into the kitchen

Sophia froze for a moment before putting on a wounded expression. "Of course you and Ivan are the ones who run this household. I'm just a guest," she cried."What kind of guest has this much say in everything? Do I need to ask for your permission every time I eat?" I demanded.Upon hearing this, Ivan slammed his utensils down on the table."Enough!" he roared. "I know you're not in the best mood because of your pregnancy, but Sophia has been taking care of you for the longest time. She even prepares a separate meal for you. She's doing all of this for free, and you're still complaining about it?""For free?" I shot back. "The ingredients she uses for four dishes and a pot of soup cost 200 dollars. All of those ingredients were paid for with my money, Ivan."Sophia immediately stepped in to de-escalate the situation. "Alright, alright. Don't be upset, Lily. I'll keep the meals relatively simple from now on. I won't spend so much money on ingredients anymore," she said.Ivan fl

When Ivan woke up, he instinctively tried to hug me only for his hands to grasp empty air.Overcome with inexplicable panic, he hurriedly got up to check the items in the bedroom. My pajamas, cosmetics, and suitcase were all accounted for. There didn't appear to be any clothes missing either. He sighed in relief. It seemed he'd been overthinking things. In the dining room, Sophia had prepared a separate portion for me as usual.Ivan looked at the three-person meal on the table and recalled his unanswered calls, irritation rising."I don't know where Lily's gone. She's not answering my calls," he stated.Sophia stopped chewing and said with a smile. "Don't worry. She told me that she was going out to buy a few things this morning, so she's probably just not used to the food at home."Ivan thought back to the takeout container in the trash can, feeling a mix of frustration and disappointment. "She just loves eating that sort of junk. Even though your cooking is great, she's still

Benjy quickly got into character. He invited Ivan to sit on the couch and stuffed a melon under the latter's shirt."This is your "baby". Take good care of it," he instructed.Ivan nodded and cradled the melon as if he really were pregnant.Benjy then took Ivan's phone out of his pocket and confiscated it."Phones emit radiation that's harmful to the baby, so you shouldn't use one for now."I added, "That's right. Nothing's more important than our baby, so be good and live with it.""Live with it". What familiar words.Ivan smiled wryly. So, being told to "live with it" felt this stifling. Many different snacks lay on the coffee table, and among them was the chilli con carne Ivan had brought over just now. After couching by the doorway for an entire afternoon, Ivan's stomach had long since started growling. With thoughts of the treatment I'd suffered in mind, he tentatively picked out a slice of plain bread. He was just about to take a bite when Benjy slapped it out of his h
