I left Darius’s tent with my heart still pounding. I could barely think about what had just happened. I only knew I needed to find Magnar and tell him that I had done what he asked. Darius’s POVThe next morning, a heavy knock on the tent door woke me. I opened my eyes and looked toward the entrance. Ayla was still asleep beside me.Another knock followed.“Who is there?” I said.“The Alpha Prince,” one of the guards replied from outside. “His Majesty requests your presence.”I sat up and stretched. The King wanted to see me this early? I didn’t know what he could want from me now, this early in the morning. I got out of bed and realized I was still naked. Ayla’s POVThe next morning, I woke up before Darius and started packing. The King had ordered me to move into Darius’s tent, so there was no point delaying it. I dragged a large sack across the floor, with some of my clothes inside. The noise woke Darius up.“What’s going on?” he asked sleepily, sitting up on the bed. He rubbed his eyes and looked at the sack. “What’s that?”“I told you last time the King ordered me to move into your tent,” I replied. “I’m trying to bring my things inside.”I could tell from his expression that he didn’t like the idea, but surprisingly, he didn’t argue with me. He looked away and acted as if I wasn’t there. I continued bringing my things inside and started arranging them in the little space I could find.I wanted to talk to him, but Darius wasn’t exactly the easiest person to have a conversation with. Still, I decided to try. “Is the South really as beautiful as people say?” I asked while folding one of my dresses. He glanced at me briefly. “Yes.”
