Todos os capítulos de Dear Ex Husband, Your Best Friend Worships Me Now.: Capítulo 1 - Capítulo 10

MARISSA'S POV.I didn't care to look at that text a second time, nothing would convince me that Lucas was cheating on me, not even his vile mother who was already screaming down the house for her breakfast. When Lucas asked me to marry him, Susan protested, she called my family gold diggers and said I wasn't befitting for her son's status. Lucas ignored all of that and we got married anyway, but that never stopped Susan from telling me how much she despised me. She didn't care that I became her primary caretaker after her fatal accident. I was convinced that this was a well thought out plan to ruin my marriage, so I completely ignored it. Since it was a Saturday, I decided to distract myself with deep cleaning the whole house, it worked, and a few hours in, I went to check on Susan. She was on the phone, laughing harder than I had ever heard her laugh, and I stopped right by door, curious and tempted to listen. “Oh, the poor girl, she has no idea what's going on.” She sniffed, wip

MARISSA'S POV.Kade's dick had grown limp inside me. My head was on his bare chest, and his right hand was wrapped around my back. He hadn't said a word to me since the ground shaking orgasm he gave me, and I was equally at a loss for words. One thing kept going through my head— I had cheated on my husband with his best friend. But that was the least of my worries at the moment, because Kade's silence almost felt as if he regretted it. I loved every minute of it, and it was heartbreaking to think that he didn't. The rain had slowly stopped, but hours had gone by, and it was already so late at night. Lucas had to be on his way home already, probably getting ready to lie to my face again.“It's late.” I pointed out, desperate to break the awkward silence between us. His arm moved subtly along my back, followed by deep grunts that made me bite my lip. “I should take you home.” He said it like he was unsure, right before planting a kiss on my forehead. “Yeah.” I rolled off his body, h

KADE'S POV.The room was dimly lit, just the way I liked it, and a slow jam played from the stereo, calming my nerves and taking me back to what happened in the car barely hours ago. I brought the glass of Scotch to my nose before pouring it down my throat, letting it burn all the way down, hoping that it would get rid of whatever it was that I suddenly felt for Marissa. The day I found out that my wife, Lana was cheating on me was the day my love for her died. She had been on a cruise ship with that animal, Lucas, a man I held at very high regard. Someone took photos and sent to me, and more evidence started to pop up after that. I waited for her to change, but she kept lying to my face, she kept running back to him. Today, all of it was going to end, this sham of a marriage was going to end. The smooth sound of a car pulling into the driveway made a grin play across my lips, and my eyes moved to the documents on the table across from me. I poured myself another glass of Scotch a

MARISSA'S POV.“What are you talking about? Why can't I file for divorce?”My heart was already in my mouth at this point, and I threw the covers off my body, sweat bands suddenly tricking down my forehead. “I went through the files carefully, and I found a single page contract among the documents you signed on your wedding day. There's a clause, and I'm afraid it won't let you get a divorce.” She explained, and in the background, I could hear papers flipping. “What? I don't remember reading anything like that, Lucas didn't tell me about…” I trailed off, fingers already digging into my hair. “Calm down Marissa. Why don't you come by the office tomorrow morning and I'll explain everything to you?” She wanted me to calm down? How was that even possible? Apart from being financially incapable of leaving Lucas, now I was somehow legally unable to get a divorce too? How was I supposed to stay calm? “I.. I will be at your office, just send me the address.” I managed to say before she h

MARISSA'S POV.Kade took it upon himself to review those pieces of evidence with his lawyers. By the time they were done, a court order was sent to Lucas, forcing him to appear before the court to defend himself. He hired the best lawyers in the city to defend him, but his board of directors were involved already, and they wouldn't take it lightly with him since he used company profits to buy fashion houses for Lana. I was disgusted when I found out that he had been helping Lana establish several fashion houses across the globe. He was supporting her career while telling me that a career wasn't important. It was during the court process that I found out that he had fallen for Lana barely a year after our wedding. Lana showed her face in court once, but it wasn't to see Lucas. She had come to submit the signed divorce papers to Kade, claiming that she didn't need him or his money. She wasn't remorseful, and neither was Lucas. After almost a week, the court gave their verdict, and t
