All Chapters of Craving My Ex-Wife : Chapter 1 - Chapter 10

I woke on the floor with the photograph still in my hand. For a few seconds, I did not remember where I was. The ceiling above me was plain and unfamiliar, a flat stretch of white paint with a thin crack near the light fixture, and the room around me smelled of dust, fresh paint, and cardboard boxes. There were no heavy curtains. No polished antique furniture. No staff moving quietly beyond the door. No cold east wing waiting to remind me that I had lived for three years in a house that never once felt like mine. Then I felt the stiffness in my neck, the ache in my back, the paper pressed against my palm, and everything returned. The divorce. The legal office.Bryan’s voice.Lily will need the space.I sat up slowly, still dressed in the plain grey dress I had worn to sign away my marriage. My shoes lay near the door where I must have kicked them off sometime after midnight. The apartment was silent but it was not the same silence as the Kingsley estate. This silence did not watch me.

At eleven that night, I sat in Dr. Reeves’ office with a pregnancy test wrapped in tissue inside my handbag and a silence in my chest that felt too large for my body. The room was warmer than most medical offices, with soft yellow lamps, framed botanical prints and a small kettle set on a side table beside two untouched cups. Someone had tried very hard to make the place feel less frightening and that effort somehow frightened me more because it meant there was something worth softening.Dr. Reeves sat across from me, his grey hair neatly combed back, his glasses resting low on his nose, his hands folded over a file that already had my name printed on it. He was in his sixties, with kind eyes and a careful mouth, the kind of man who paused before speaking because he understood that words could become lifelong memories when delivered in the wrong tone. When I came in, he had run some tests for me immediately and now, it was clear that it was time for revelations. “Mrs. Kingsley,” he b

The call totally changed how I felt about myself. It changed everything I had thought was the case. Why am I just finding out about this? Why now? Why now when I’m going through a divorce with a man that despises me?Several questions kept flooding my head, I can’t seem to wrap my fingers around them. Having to live in a place where I wasn’t desired and wanted for years traumatised me. Then to top it all off, I got married to a man that hates me for absolutely no reason. Everyone chose different people over me. I was never someone’s choice. The biggest question I couldn’t seem to figure out was why Helena had that picture? Why was the picture in her drawers and why has she been keeping it a secret from everyone including her husband all these years? She could have decided to tell her husband but she didn’t. And even when Bryan got married to me, she could have told him about it too, but she didn’t.“What’s her deal with me?” I pondered. “Could she know about the incident that happene

Initially, I thought maybe after my therapy session, I would be able to figure out what’s wrong with me.But I was wrong.Instead, the questions have been trying so hard to push away became more evident when I saw Evelyn. She had come to pack her belongings that were still in our room before we got divorced. She basically owned the room because I hardly stayed with her because of how badly I resented her. She didn’t even bat an eye to me when she came, I was expecting maybe a little mutter..but I got nothing. Of course, I deserved that. I deserve everything she does to me because I know how badly I treated her while Lily was away and was recovering from her accident. Blamed her at any given opportunity I had and didn’t even accept her pregnancy at first.“Hi.” I tried getting her attention. She walked past me and headed to the room to grab her remaining items. I followed her, still trying to start up a conversation but she wasn’t having any of it. “Tell me if you need any help, the

“Bryan’s behavior towards me sort of changed, or am I the one overthinking it?” I asked Emma.Emma was one of the friends I made during my stay in Spain, she practically helped me out during my major therapy even though I had lied about it to Bryan. I sort of confided in her about everything that went on between Bryan and Evelyn, and she supported me through it all. That’s why she’s one of my closest friend, and a person that gives me advices.“What do you mean?” “Before we had our vacation, I noticed an unusual pattern. Bryan doesnt like kissing me anymore, he hardly even makes love to me anymore. Whenever I complain, he makes up excuses about how he is busy with work, meetings and trying to bring money so we would never lack.”“Maybe he’s genuinely stressed because of his work. You know he’s the head and needs to make sure his employees aren’t stealing or being inefficient of their duties.” Emma suggested I ask Bryan what’s really going so we can resolve it, instead of making the
