I stood frozen at the door, staring at Jasmine Cole, my former school and college bully. I was perplexed, unable to understand what she was doing with Rhys. She smiled at me as though she had just won the lottery. I couldn’t help staring at her with hatred and disbelief. “I want to speak with you. I have something important to tell you.” Rhys glanced at me coldly. For a brief moment, I felt relieved. Perhaps I was finally going to get an explanation for his recent cold behavior. I stepped aside, allowing them both to enter, then folded my arms across my chest. “This sham of a marriage is over. I want nothing to do with you anymore.” His words struck me with such force that I almost forgot how to breathe. I stared at him in shock, hoping I had heard him wrong. But his face was filled with anger, his expression as cold as though he were looking at his greatest enemy. “I can’t… I don’t understand. What do you mean our marriage is over?” “What do you mean you don’t understa

I got down from the cab smiling weakly at the scenery before me, the city was very enchanting to look at. I chose this city because it was far away from my old life and I believed I could get a job here and start afresh. I checked into my hotel, had a long shower. I went to the balcony to watch the city, I sat there with my laptop looking for apartments around, I saw a lot of good looking apartments but it was way above my budget, I reviewed my savings and realized I couldn’t afford to stay in the hotel for long, I started applying to job openings I saw online,I sent out over 20 applications to different companies hoping to get considered for one. I headed back into the room feeling sleepy and tired, I picked up the telephone and a booklet that was kept at my bedside. “Hi good evening ma’am how may I help you,” the receptionist spoke softly over the phone “Good evening please can you send up food to me I want number 8&6 on the menu with a glass of water,” I said with my head t

The city hadn't changed. The same towering buildings. The same crowded streets. The same air that had once felt like home. But as the taxi carried me through Manhattan, I felt nothing close to the warmth I remembered. My fingers tightened around the handle of my suitcase. This was the city where I had lost everything. Five years ago, I had left this place broken, bleeding, and carrying divorce papers stained with my tears. Now, I was returning in a black Mercedes as the new CEO of Landex Electronics New York. I should have felt proud. I should have felt victorious. Instead, all I felt was anger. The taxi passed a children's hospital, and my breath caught. My hand instinctively moved to my stomach, a habit I thought I had buried long ago. A sharp ache pierced my chest. If my baby had lived, he would have been five today. He would have been starting school. He would have been running into my arms. The thought of everything I had lost made my stomach twist. I wiped my trem

The door had closed But he hadn't left.Amelia could feel him standing on the other side of the glass, his shadow falling long and dark across her desk, across the awards, across the picture of her first Landex prototype that she kept like other women keep baby photos. Her hand was still clutching that cursed paper. Her knuckles were white. The paper was shaking. You are still my wife.Five words. Black ink. Still warm from his pocket. For five years she had told herself she was free. For five years she had built Amelia Hart from the ashes of Amelia Knight. She had told herself the name Knight died with her baby on that cold marble floor in that hallway. She had burned the wedding photos. She had changed her signature. She had told every investor, every journalist, every man who tried to date her that she was divorced, healed, done. And now this bastard stands there and tells her it was all a lie. That she was never free. That she had been his wife this whole time, building an empire

I didn't watch it when Clara posted it.I told her to release it. I told her to caption it exactly like I said. I told her to send it to every newsroom in New York that had played Jasmine's press conference. And then I told her to turn my office TV off and lock my office door and leave me alone.Because I couldn't watch it again. But the world did.At 3:17 PM, the unedited CCTV leaked. It wasn't HD. It was grainy, black and white, timestamped 5 years ago. Hallway B Cam. 11:42 PM.You can see me first. 23 years old, in a yellow floral dress I bought that morning because I wanted to look pretty when I told him. I had found out at 10 AM that I was pregnant. Four weeks. The test had two lines. I had been holding that secret all day, touching my flat stomach that didn't look pregnant yet, waiting for him to come home from work so I could say "Rhys, we're going to be parents."My stomach was flat. No belly. Just me and a secret that was only a few weeks old.You can see Jasmine in a silk dr
