Prologue
I never imagined I would succeed at this. Everything fell perfectly into place, but now I find myself in a bewildering state, unable to comprehend my life's turns. After my mother's passing, I came to appreciate the preciousness of life and the importance of cherishing its simplest joys.
Just a few months ago, I believed my life was doomed, destined to be homeless and living on the streets. However, I have become a billionaire—an irony of sorts by some divine intervention irony of sorts. The universe, in all its glory and its crazy tenderness, decided to grant me wealth beyond my wildest imagination. Still, in those places of plenty, doubts resound. Why me? What cosmic debit note compensated my credit? The search for answers has become my mantra. I am in a loving relationship with a remarkable man. Yet, as we all know, life is ever-changing. We can only sometimes be content, for not everything goes according to plan. Should I be correct, or am I correct in this understanding?
At some point, life had to shift, and it happened abruptly.
I witnessed my life crumbling before me, yet I remained motionless. Who would care, after all? I don't think it matters. I'm just a poor girl being pursued by a wealthy man. Was that my thinking? Can a girl like me indeed win his affection? I am no longer sure of what to believe. On and off, uncertain sounds.
He doesn't consistently love me, but sometimes he does. He loves me tender, sweet and scarce, as the beams of the moon by cloudy nights. He is a man of many moods when it comes to the emotion of affection; unpredictable but irresistible. Why would he choose me, the girl who has shadows following her? This brings the aspect of mystery in the novel as, my stepfather had been so cruel to me yet he is the one who saved me. Why do I save only to have my hand hurt?
Who would want to be seen with a girl like me? The events unfolding in my life remain a mystery to me. The day he arrived to rescue me felt like a miracle as my stepfather chased me away, declaring me worthless. I fail to understand why he would save me and only hurt me later!
Could you let me know why he wants to assist me? What sets me apart?
Why would someone like him want to spend time with a simple, naïve woman like myself?
So, what do I say? Life presents challenges, but love always finds a way to triumph over them. When I speak of love conquering all, I don't just mean the affection between you and your partner.
