Chapter 1
Sage Where is my folder. I didn't forget it. I never forget anything, it's one of the perks of having a photographic memory. Essays are due today and I can't miss the deadline. My college fund depends on it. I stop rummaging through my bag as I approach my locker. Then it hits me like it always does. The memory is hazy and fast but it's me putting it in there yesterday before I went home. I blink and it's gone as im spinning the combination on the locker and it opens with a loud thud. I flinch at the noise. Im barely able to reach in to grab the folder of finished essays, all ranging in different grades from C to A+, when there's a tap on my shoulder. I freeze for half a second before pulling the thick plastic folder from its shelf. I flip to the very back and pull out my original to turn in next period. I slide it skillfully into my bag before turning to my first customer of the day. "Hey Sage, what are your rates on Ms. Fosters English Lit paper?" Say the Blond, 6'4 mammoth of a "

Chapter 2
Jax Shit. I'm late. If I miss class again there's no way to save my car from being taken away. Again. I was going to be on time but I saw her in the hallway. Sitting cross legged handing a paper to a freshman. Her long dark hair falling around her face and tiny frame. Her hand catches the corner of her folder and pulls down her sleeve revealing a very dark and unflattering mark on her creamy skin. I have to focus on pushing my wolf down from the surface. Someone has hurt what's ours, and it's fresh from the way she starts rubbing it pulling her sleeve down making sure it stays covered. I can feel my wolf rattling my cage. He wants to go up to her, sweep her up off the floor and claim her as his in front of everyone. Though I'm pretty sure the tiny human girl would definitely bolt before I'd even get close enough. My wolf isn't the most welcoming especially towards humans. They're usually only good for one thing, well the ones brave enough are at least. I watch as she's counting the

Chapter 3
Jax I couldn't help but reach out and touch her. She is most likely covered in bruises under her jacket. It's no secret that her father is a drunk. The way she turns around and glares at me with her green eyes through her square glasses brings my wolf to the surface, but instead of cowering like humans usually do at the sight of our wolves she stands her ground not budging. I want to reach out and touch her again but Foster catches her turned in her chair. I'm speechless when she automatically recites the lesson back to the teacher. I didn't think she was even paying attention. I'm looking her over and when my eyes lock with her yet again I see something flash in them, it was small and so fast I nearly missed it. It disappears and she turns back around in her chair. My wolf is surging beneath the surface. I'm not use to anyone holding their ground with me, especially such a tiny human girl. Her long dark hair falls over the edge of my desk Infront of me and before I can even stop my

SageI enter the library behind Jaxson. He makes a beeline to a table all the way in the back of the room and I pause when I realize when he said alone, he meant it. The table he chose is out of sight of the main entrance behind the last row of shelves. I sigh and unwillingly follow him. When I turn behind the last bookshelf I expected him to be sitting already instead he's standing behind a pulled out chair and motions for me to sit. Everything inside me is telling me to turn tail and run right out of this room and right out of this school. Not like I could go home to my dad. the moment I'd walk through the door he'd be on me about skipping class and I want to avoid anymore bruising. I bite my pride and choose the safer option and take a seat in the chair Jaxson has pulled out for me. Once I'm in place he pulls out the chair next to me and takes a seat as I start stacking papers and flipping open the history book. I am all too aware of the shifter next to me. He's so close I can s

Chapter 5
Jax"She wants to meet her Alpha, and mate." I say holding her face carefully in my hands. I feel flames ignite in my palms and travel down my arms and into my chest. I watch as her face turns a crimson color and as gold swirls around in her forest green eyes. This girl is the opposite of me in every way. Just being around her I can already tell and I'm not sure why fate has made her mine. I'm not use to fragile little things.I watch as my words register with her, and confusion flashes across her redden face. She doesn't break eye contact with me as she reaches up to remove my hands from her face. "You have to be mistaken." She says softly letting my hands go. I instantly reach out for her again tracing my fingers down the sleeve of her denem jacket. "I'm human. My parents are human." She says turning back to her stack of papers Infront of her. I keep lightly tracing my fingers up and down her arm and I see her look around the room as if trying to find an exit strategy. I knew she'd

Chapter 6
Sage I get my things cleared off the table and sit back not daring to look back in his direction. I close my eyes trying to clear my head and jump when I feel heat radiating up my back. I look over at Jaxs- Jax and there is anger in his eyes the emotion swirling with the silver of his wolf. I instinctively pull away readjusting my shirt and jacket to cover up the distinct footprint left on my back. I shrink away from the wolf next to me. He instantly grabs my wrist and a hiss escapes my lips and I pull as hard as I can out of his grasp only for him to pull me back. He's stronger and bigger than me just like pretty much everyone else around me. He pulls me almost out of my chair to where I'm fully facing him. "Take your jacket off." He says it sternly and I can feel the low growl starting in his chest. I meet his gaze head on. "No." I say back trying to desperately remove myself from his grasp. The fire radiating from his touch is searing up my arms and settling down in the pits of

Sage "Okay." I say and I see the satisfaction cross his face as I lean away from him letting him sit back up his blonde hair falling back into his face. I don't know why agreed to go with him but it's either Jax, my father, or the student body that I'll have to face and even though I hardly know this guy logically he's the safest bet I have right now. "If we're gonna go it'd be best if we get out of here before the bell." He says lifting me up off of him. I catch my footing and pick my bag back up off the floor. "I have to drop the binder off at Lacey's locker." I say looking at the clock. Five minutes until the bell. Well shit. Our lockers are at the other end of the hall and I'll get caught in the middle if I try to return it. I bite my lip trying to figure out what to do when Jax grabs my bag and fishes the thick binder from my bag. I follow him to the front of the library where there a girl I recognize as Logan. She looks up as Jax approaches. She gives him a wide smile "What

JaxShe carefully takes a seat next to me on the log. Her legs dangled beneath her just over the edge of the cliff. She doesn't seem bothered by the fact that she's only inches away from a thousand foot drop as she takes in the landscape. "So let's say I say yes, what exactly would happen after?" She says not looking at me. I pause a moment thinking before I answer her. "Well fist off you would need to shift and the only way for that to happen is for me to mark you." I say brushing my hand over her exposed neck. Fire races through my fingers and up my arm and she visibly shivers from my touch, but she doesn't flinch away. I'd call that progress. "Once you're marked and shifted however that's when an issue could arise however." I say looking down at her. "The other females would sniff you out and challenge you, even as Alpha I can't stop that from happening." I sigh and she visibly stiffens at the thought of confrontation from a shewolf. She doesn't say anything for a moment and i
