I know a lot of people head straight to Ao3, but I’ve had way more luck with specific Discord servers. The tags on big sites can get so messy, and half the time you’re wading through stuff that’s just tagged for exposure.
There’s a server called ‘Todoroki Water Breathing’ that’s a real hub for BNHA and Demon Slayer crossovers. It’s not just a rec list; the writers are actually there, doing sprints and sharing WIPs. You get a better sense of what’s actually being updated and what’s been abandoned. Found a fantastic Izuku/Shinobu slow-burn there that I’m pretty sure never got posted anywhere else.

Man, this crossover has so much potential it’s hard to pick just one. I see a lot of chatter about Izuku Midoriya and Tanjiro Kamado, which honestly feels almost too obvious? I mean, they're both the sweetest, most determined cinnamon rolls in their respective universes. The dynamic writes itself—two boys who would absolutely cry over each other's kindness and then team up to save everyone. It's wholesome, but for me, the real spark is in the unlikely matches.
I'm a total sucker for the Katsuki Bakugo x Shinobu Kocho idea that's been floating around. Think about it: his explosive, raw aggression meeting her deceptive, venomous grace. The sheer verbal sparring potential alone is gold. He'd be fuming at her polite smiles, and she'd be dissecting his ego with terrifying clinical precision. It wouldn't be a conventional romance; it'd be a battle of wits and wills with a slow, grudging respect that could maybe, possibly, turn into something more. Way more interesting than just pairing up the two main heroes, in my opinion.
Another underrated one is Shoto Todoroki and Giyu Tomioka. The shared trauma of complicated family legacies, the quiet, socially awkward intensity… they'd probably just sit in silence for hours and understand each other perfectly. It’s a mood.

I keep seeing this crossover pop up and honestly, most attempts feel pretty forced. The quirks vs breathing styles power scaling debates always seem to dominate the plot. That said, 'Embers' by Kaikaina did something interesting by having Tanjiro and Nezuko get stranded in the MHA world decades before canon, treating their demon-slaying past as a forgotten myth. It focused more on the cultural shock and the siblings trying to build a quiet life while their new neighbors keep getting dragged into villain attacks. The author had a good handle on Tanjiro's relentless kindness wearing down a very cynical Aizawa.
Another one that worked for me was 'Breath of Heroism', but mostly for its take on Zenitsu. He gets punted into UA and his Thunder Breathing gets misidentified as an electricity-based quirk. The comedy of him constantly having panic attacks during hero exercises, only to accidentally pull off incredible speed when terrified, was weirdly charming. The plot got a bit messy after the Sports Festival arc though.

It sounds weird, but I'd almost say don't start with the most popular pairing tags. Those can be a massive mixed bag, and a lot of them assume you already know certain fanon interpretations. What worked for me was searching for specific scenarios that interested me in the canon. Like, 'Tanjirou time travel' or 'Hashira training arc fix-it'. You get stories that focus on a plot hook you already like, and the character dynamics build naturally from there.
Also, check out the bookmarks of authors you stumble upon and enjoy. I found some of my absolute favorite, less-known fics because a writer I admired had them saved. It's a better quality filter than just sorting by kudos sometimes, especially in a big fandom where older gems can get buried.
