The most under-argued point: 'The Silver Chair' is a direct sequel to 'Voyage of the Dawn Treader.' Prince Caspian is old, Eustace is back, and they reference the voyage. Those two should be read back-to-back. In publication order, they are. In chronological order, they still are, but with 'The Horse and His Boy' awkwardly placed between 'Lion' and them, breaking the flow of the Caspian/Eustace/Jill arc.

I'm just nodding along. I read them so long ago I can't even remember what order I used. I think I found 'The Voyage of the Dawn Treader' in a used bookstore first and started there. Then I went back and read the others as I found them. It was a mess, but I still loved them.

Maybe there's something to be said for a chaotic, discovery-based approach. It made Narnia feel even more like a mysterious, found world to me.
