Getting a bit overwhelmed by GoodNovel's notifications and want a clean break from the platform. Is account deletion straightforward, or does the app make it difficult to permanently remove your reader profile?

To delete your account via our app, navigate to your profile, then Account Settings. In the browser version of NovelUpdater, you can find the account management page in your settings. Once you delete your account, please note that it typically cannot be undone and does not automatically cancel active subscriptions, so be sure to handle those before deleting your account. Meanwhile, I have recently finished writing and uploading A Farewell After Being Reborn, a short Novel featuring a protagonist given a second chance at life. That one is a complete read, with no installments left to upload.

A long time ago, I helped a few of my friends delete their GoodNovel accounts. To delete an account, you first need to open the GoodNovel app, go to “Me” at the bottom right corner of the screen, then click on “Settings” and then “Account Management” where you can delete your account. Note that the verification emails that the system sends are required for security reasons and we cannot remove them for you. Also, note that if you have purchased coins before, you should use them up first because they cannot be refunded.

I attempted to delete my GoodNovel account recently and found the process to not be as easy as I had anticipated. First, I accessed the app and clicked my profile icon in the top left of the screen. After that, I went into settings and clicked “Account Settings” from the given options. Unfortunately, I was unable to find a delete account button within that section. After some additional digging, I located the “Delete Account” link within the “Privacy Settings” section. However, before the app would allow me to delete the account, it requested a confirmation code that would be sent to the email address associated with my account.

When I entered the confirmation code for deletion of my account GoodNovel in-app, I was happy that this process was protected by extra security (i.e. that I had to confirm deletion of my account). Before I was able to delete my account GoodNovel I also cancelled my subscription in GoodNovel in my store for apps, because I did not want to get charged unexpectedly for subscription after deletion of my account. This was a very good thing to do!

One of the accounts I wanted to delete as part of my digital detox was GoodNovel. Deleting an account on GoodNovel requires a lot of patience as you have to log in and go through multiple screens. It was hidden in several layers and I didn’t expect that. The option to delete an account is in Profile > Settings > Account > Delete Account. After that, they send you a verification email which takes a few minutes to arrive. While waiting for it to arrive, I checked my reading history and the novels that I saved. There was so much data that I would lose if I were to delete the account. I wished that I could have exported my favorites list before deleting the account. It just goes to show that you should always check what you would lose before deleting something.

So I’ve stopped receiving endless notifications from GoodNovel, because last week I deleted my account. I managed to do this by going to profile in the app, then to settings, and at the bottom of the list of things you can change about your account was “delete account”. It then asked for confirmation of the deletion of your account by email, which seemed a bit unnecessary to me, but anyway, that took about 5 minutes in total. Just a word of warning though: if you’re paying for a subscription to GoodNovel, you’ll also need to cancel your subscription through your phone’s app store settings before you can delete your account.

It's in the settings, I suppose. I went into GoodNovel (settings for your account in the ‘Me’ section, top right corner of the page), then went into ‘Account and Security’ (left hand side of the ‘Me’ page) and at the bottom of that page ‘Delete Account’. A bit tedious as you have to re-enter your password and confirm that you understand it’s a permanent deletion. The hardest part for me was having to let go of my half finished stories but I exported my favorite quotes from each before deleting my half completed books.

I am sort of confused as to why people want to delete their accounts so badly. Why not just log out of all your accounts and uninstall the app? An account is just data stored on a server. Unless you’re concerned about Facebook storing some of your personal information, logging out and then uninstalling the app will have the same result of you not being able to access Facebook any longer. The delete button is located in Settings -> Account.

This could be how one deletes their GoodNovel account: First, cancel any subscription in Apple ID/Google Play subscriptions. Then wait about a day and then go to ‘Me’ in GoodNovel app, go to ‘Settings’ and find ‘Delete Account’. This worked for me. I got an error the first time I tried this because my subscription was still active for the remainder of the billing period even though I had cancelled it.
