How Do I Cancel My Subscription In The Webnovel App?

You can see from my receipt email for my cancelled membership last month how I found out I had signed up for it via Google Play (also applicable for Apple Subscription memberships), so I have listed out the easiest steps to cancel from within each store too – as most of these steps are also listed within the Help Center for each Membership too (written by members and staff of webnovel.com).

Additionally, there may be an option called ‘Manage Subscription’ within the Settings / Profile section of the app. Once you have canceled your membership, please note that it will remain active until the end of the paid period. Also, please be aware that any refunds will be handled by the store from which you have purchased the membership (ie Google Play / Apple App Store / webnovel.com website). First, figure out where you actually signed up for the subscription. The receipt should have come from either the Google Play Store or the Apple Store, so you will need to cancel your subscription through the store where you made the purchase (not through the app). On Android, this would be through the Play Store, accessing your account info by clicking your profile icon in the upper right corner of the screen. Clicking ‘Payments & subscriptions’ in the left-hand menu, then clicking ‘Subscriptions’ in the resulting menu, will bring you to a list of all your active subscriptions. From there, simply click the ‘Cancel subscription’ button next to the app you are trying to cancel. Note that when you cancel your subscription, the subscription will remain active until the end of the current billing period and any paid content that you have already purchased will remain accessible to you.

If you registered for a subscription from the website itself (i.e. you get a receipt that says webnovel.com), sign into the website and go to your account or wallet section (usually within the “My Account” page). Find the “Membership” or “Subscriptions” section, and click “Manage” or “Cancel” within that. In some versions of the novel reading app, you can even cancel your auto-renewal within Profile -> Settings -> Manage Subscription or even within Payment Methods. And if you had registered for the subscription through a 3rd party (like PayPal), cancel your authorized payment through their website’s dashboard.

Also – in case you need to get a refund on an app-store purchase (Apple/Google Store), or a site-based subscription (Webnovel), that can be initiated via the Webnovel Help Center. One more thing – note that while deleting the app will no longer allow you to sign-up for a new subscription for that app, actually cancelling the subscription to which you are subscribed is a separate process from deleting the app and I found a small sense of pride in being able to re-dedicate that time and that money to my leisure activities.

Note that cancelling your subscription may not immediately cancel ‘Auto-Renewal’ on your current payment period. That means you’ll remain a VIP until the originally stipulated date of your payment. It’s standard practice to be honest. Also note that any remaining Coins, Spirit Stones, etc. you have left over at the end of your subscription period will remain in your account after your subscription has ended. You won’t be able to earn the daily VIP bonus, but you can use up any remaining store currency on any remaining chapters you wish to read before your VIP days are up, and then purchase individual chapters after that.
