How To Fix Goodreads On Kindle Not Updating Shelves?
My Goodreads shelves still show old status after finishing ebooks on my Kindle Paperwhite. Syncing between the apps feels totally broken lately.

I typically start by manually syncing the titles from within the Kindle settings (under ‘Sync and Check for Items’). Sometimes by forcing it to sync, it actually updates Goodreads properly. If that doesn’t work, I have found that logging the Kindle out of the Amazon account and then logging back in usually fixes the connection as well. I know Goodreads integration can be somewhat wonky at times. Anyway, instead of dealing with this, I would rather be reading the new ‘Accidentally Marked By The Alpha King’ book. It’s a really fast paced and dramatic read and I finished the first chapter within the first hour of starting it. It’s a really good werewolf romance and the whole plot stems from the heroine having been mistakenly claimed by the king and then all of the political and personal issues start to unravel from there.

Here’s how I managed to fix this issue (I’m somewhat of a novice to computers): I started off by checking if the book I’m currently reading has been added to Goodreads, and if the relevant information has been included in the book’s metadata on the site.
After that, I tried to sync the book from Goodreads website manually. I went to the book page on Goodreads.com and changed my reading status manually for several times. It should update the Kindle’s information after few updates. Note that your Kindle should be turned on and not in airplane mode to sync information.
Update: Many of the Kindle models are several years old and syncing can take longer with these models. In my case switching to the latest Kindle model fixed the issue. But even with the best integration between Goodreads and Kindle there are some issues and you may occasionally need to update your reading status manually. It is also a good idea to make sure that both Goodreads and Kindle are up to date and to restart your Kindle from time to time.

I had this problem before. The way I solved it was by manually syncing the Kindle in the settings by choosing ‘Sync My Kindle’. For some reason the automatic syncing isn’t working and doing it manually solves the problem. Then I disconnected and reconnect the Goodreads account in the Kindle’s Goodreads settings. I also tried clearing the Kindle’s cache by holding the power button for 40 seconds and then switching it off. After that it restarted and the problem was solved. Another thing that I did was updating both the Kindle and the Goodreads app to the latest versions. Maybe the problem is caused by outdated software. I haven’t gone as far as contacting Amazon support yet, because none of the above methods didn’t work.

Don’t get frustrated when Goodreads won’t update your shelves on your Kindle – this has happened to me on multiple occasions and I have done lots of troubleshooting to come to the following conclusion.
First, check your Wi-Fi connection. Goodreads won’t update your Kindle if the connection is spotty. Next, log off Goodreads from your Kindle and then log back in. This should re-establish the connection to Goodreads. Also, be sure that all of your Goodreads shelves are set to public. Goodreads shelves that are set to private do not always seem to update properly on the Kindle.
Another solution I have found is to remove the book from your Kindle and then re-add it. (Of course, this will also remove the book from any current readings you have going on.) Additionally, the larger your library, the longer it will take to update your shelves. If none of these methods work, you may have to perform a factory reset on your Kindle – but this is a last resort as you will need to contact Amazon customer support to get your Kindle re-set up.
When you use more than one device to access Goodreads (e.g. phone, tablet), it’s also possible that the Goodreads app on your other devices is interfering with the syncing of your Kindle. Closing the Goodreads app on your other devices before you try to sync your Kindle again might solve the problem.

This synchronization only occurs when the Kindle is asleep and linked to a Wi-Fi network. Thus, merely closing the Kindle’s cover will not result in a synchronization. In order to guarantee a timely update of Goodreads, you should put the Kindle to sleep after you have finished reading for the time being and it is connected to Wi-Fi. Sometimes, it can take only a few minutes for the update to be indicated by the Goodreads App. Switching your Kindle to Airplane mode and going back afterwards can also prompt the Kindle to search for any pending synchronization jobs in the background.

As a bestselling paranormal romance writer, I've killed off villains, rejected cheating Alphas, and handed out happy endings for years.
Turns out, writing about betrayal is a lot easier than living through it.
I caught my fiancé, Alpha Kael Draven, in bed with my stepsister. They expected tears, screaming, maybe a dramatic slap or two.
I gave them a smile instead.
Nothing bruises a cheating Alpha's ego faster than realizing his mate doesn't care enough to fight over him.
Just when I thought I'd survived the worst day of my life, the most feared Lycan in the country arrived at our pack, and suddenly everyone forgot about the affair and started acting like I was the real problem.
Now my cheating fiancé won't let me out of his sight, my delusional stepsister is determined to steal a title that was never hers, and a dangerous Lycan keeps looking at me like he's been waiting for me his entire life.
The funny thing?
I've written this story before.
Or... at least I thought I had.
Because this one refuses to follow my plot, the characters won't obey me, and I'm beginning to suspect the Moon Goddess never bothered reading my books.
If this is fate's idea of a romance, she seriously needs a better editor.
We were supposed to be in love for eternity. But my vampire fiancé, Caius, has stood me up at our blood-bonding ceremony thirty-three times.
The first time, the girl he’d sired, Evangeline, lost control during a hunt. He raced to her side, leaving me alone in the church under the blood moon.
The second time, he vanished mid-ceremony because Evangeline was being bullied by another clan. He left me to face the elders’ mockery alone.
After that, his little fledgling always had some fresh disaster for him to avert.
And he always had an excuse: “I sired her. She’s like a child to me.”
Then I saw the fresh bite marks on their necks. They had shared blood—the ultimate intimacy between mates.
My heart turned to ash. It was time to burn our betrothal to the ground.
The day I finally disappeared, he went mad, tearing our world apart to find me.

And when his touch marks her as his true fated mate and the last heir of the Moon Goddess, she must learn to become the Luna strong enough to save him, even as her old pack, jealous rivals, and buried secrets try to tear them apart.
Who Will she choose to save?
Herself or her mate?
Read to find out.
"I hate that I want you."
Those are the words Alpha Kaelen whispers against my skin when the fever takes him.
To the world, I am just Elara, the disappointment, the maid, the shadow of his perfect Luna.
To him, I am a temptation he cannot explain and a sin he cannot confess.
He married my twin sister. He marked my twin sister.
But his wolf knows the truth.
Now, a mysterious "wasting sickness" is killing him, and his wife's touch only makes it worse. I am the only one who can bring him back from the edge.
Every night, I am forced to enter his bedroom.
Every night, I have to touch him to keep his heart beating.
It starts with a cool cloth on his fevered brow. It ends with his heavy body pinning mine against the door, his hands rough and desperate, his nose buried in the curve of my neck.
He thinks he’s hallucinating. He thinks I’m a test.
"Why?" he growls, his hips grinding against mine with a hunger that terrifies me.
"Why does my body scream for you when my mind chose her?"
I am his shameful secret. His midnight addiction.
He thinks he can use me to survive and then return to his wife in the morning.
But the heat is rising. The bond is snapping.
And soon, the Alpha won't just want to touch me.
He’ll want to devour me.
My fated mate, Alpha Ryker, postponed our bonding ceremony thirty-three times after my Luna Ceremony.
All because his student, Isla, always had some new problem.
Our first ceremony, Isla claimed she was attacked by rogues and her shift failed. She needed help.
Ryker left me at the altar. I waited all night. Alone.
The second time, Isla said her wolf was weak, that she was about to collapse on the training grounds.
Ryker dropped my hand and ran to her. Without a second thought.
After that, every time we tried to have our ceremony, every time he was about to mark me, Isla would interrupt.
I swallowed the sharp pain in my chest and finally decided to reject him.
But the moment I did, Ryker went feral. He started tearing the entire werewolf world apart, just to find me.
I recently figured out how to stop Goodreads from updating my reading status on Kindle, and it was simpler than I expected. On your Kindle, go to the settings menu and look for the 'Goodreads Integration' option. Toggle it off to disable automatic updates. If you want to be extra cautious, you can also revoke Kindle's access to Goodreads by logging into your Amazon account, navigating to 'Manage Your Content and Devices,' and adjusting the permissions there. This way, your reading progress won’t be shared without your consent. It’s a relief for those of us who prefer to keep our reading habits private or just don’t like the constant notifications.
