Does anyone else have that one translated book they bought on a trip to Kerala and loved, but can't find anywhere online to recommend to others? I have a thin volume of folktales I picked up in Kochi, translated by a local college, that's absolutely charming. But I have no idea if it had a wider print run. These little unknown gems are out there!

'The Last Brahmin' by Ravi Shankar Etteth (originally in English, not a translation) is a fantastic political thriller rooted in Kerala. Again, not a translation, but for a casual reader wanting that Kerala backdrop with a propulsive story in flawless English, it's a fantastic ride. Sometimes the best gateway isn't a translation at all.
