The Nevermoor series is an absolutely magical series of fantasy novels that have captivated a wide readership of all ages. Written by Jessica Townsend, the series currently comprises three novels: Nevermoor: The Trials of Morrigan Crow, Wundersmith: The Calling of Morrigan Crow and Hollowpox: The Hunt for Morrigan Crow. The first book follows the journey of the main protagonist Morrigan Crow who is a cursed child that escapes her execution by being transported to the strange and unknown magical city of Nevermoor in which she will face a series of trials to gain membership to the Wundrous Society.

Immersive, with just the right mix of the whimsical and dark, Townsend has created a world that feels full and alive. As much a part of the existing market of children’s fantasy as Harry Potter, the Nevermoor books have their own unique magic system, and their own special brand of quirky humor. Fans are waiting with bated breath for the fourth book in the series, which the author has confirmed is in the works. For now, though, these three books will have to suffice – and they are a must-read for anyone who loves fantasy with a heart, a sense of humor, and a touch of danger.

Jessica Townsend's 'Nevermoor' series is another that I love and I've been following this since the first book was released. As of now, there are 3 books in this series: Nevermoor: The Trials of Morrigan Crow, Wundersmith: The Calling of Morrigan Crow and Hollowpox: The Hunt for Morrigan Crow. Each of the books in this series continues Morrigan Crow's adventures in the magical world of Nevermoor. I love that each of the books in this series has so much detail in the world that Townsend has created and the characters are also very memorable. The series is full of action, mystery and lots of heart which is perfect for any fantasy lover. I'm hoping that Jessica Townsend will continue to write more books in this series as she recently hinted that she may continue with Morrigan in future books and I'm so hoping that it will be very soon!

The critically acclaimed ‘Nevermoor’ series by Jessica Townsend is currently comprised of three books: ‘Nevermoor: The Trials of Morrigan Crow’, ‘Wundersmith: The Calling of Morrigan Crow’ and ‘Hollowpox: The Hunt for Morrigan Crow’. The books follow Morrigan Crow, a determined and feisty protagonist, as she journeys through the magical world of Nevermoor, full of wonder and magic, facing various challenges and dangers along the way. The first book sets up Morrigan’s escape from her cursed life and subsequent arrival in Nevermoor in search of a new beginning.

Jessica Townsend has a brilliant way with words, transporting readers to Nevermoor with his wonderful descriptions of all the people that Morrigan meets. It’s a really light-hearted read, but has some deeper moments too. We’re told that more books are going to be added to the series, and I for one cannot wait to continue the adventures of Morrigan Crow in this fascinating and original take on fantasy.

Is the Nevermoor book series similar to Harry Potter?

Breaking both down to their core elements, you get 'miserable kid finds magic and a new home'. It’s a basic myth that works because it’s true on some level. But all the details between the two are so, so different. The misery. The rescue. The home. The magic. The world of magic they live in. Even the primary conflict of the story and the main characters’ friendships and side characters and tone and humor and how the story’s paced out are all entirely different between the two. So similar on a very small, genre-defining level that it’s almost hard to note, but so very, very different from there on out. Nevermoor is its own thing and that’s glorious.

What age group is the Nevermoor book series suitable for?

Forget chronological age, and think about the reader’s overall reading experience. Does the child read other mid-to-long length fantasy books? If so, she’s already a reader of ‘Harry Potter’, ‘Percy Jackson’ or ‘Series of Unfortunate Events’ books and will enjoy ‘Nevermoor’. Zana Fraillon’s writing is probably a little more descriptive and full of fantasy than Rick Riordan’s but the chapters are short and the hooks are strong. This is a great ‘first thick book’ for children new to reading longer novels. Typically this would be a 9-10 year old reader but a very confident and voracious 8 year old reader would also enjoy it. It’s a great book to help build a child’s confidence in reading longer novels.

How many volumes are in the SailorMoon book series?

I checked a few manga databases to confirm. The original First Edition Tankoubon had 18 volumes. Later a Renewed Tankoubon edition was published in 2003 in 18 volumes as well. It is only with the so-called ‘perfect’ or ‘collector’s’ editions that the number of volumes starts to vary. For the purpose of this thread, however, we are talking about the original manga as first released, translated into dozens of languages and read by millions of people worldwide to create a global phenomenon. These are great for new readers in omnibus editions, which are even more affordably priced and published on better paper. But for the collector of old manga or for the manga purist these 18 volumes are what he or she is looking for. The casual reader of manga who only wants to read the story, on the other hand, can opt for any complete edition that contains the above mentioned 18 volumes of manga.

How many books are in The Twelve Kingdoms series?

This is a digital library of 4 hard cover books. They are all available on my Kindle. Unfortunately, it was a real challenge to get these published as e-books several years ago. However, they are now once again available as e-books. Each of these lengthy novels is substantially longer than a light novel published in pamphlet form. And, although there are only 4 entries in this library, there is plenty of reading material here to fully immerse yourself in this extraordinary world.

How many books are in The Last King series?

Note that The Last King series proper consists of five “official” books, but diehard fans like myself will tell you to read the companion short story “The Black Herald” between Book 4 and Book 5. It is the best way to experience the true development of the protagonist from a tough, rough-around-the-edges-outlaw-type to a noble, reluctant leader. And the last book’s cover art, with the broken-up crown, still sends shivers down my spine.

Is 'The Never King' part of a book series?

This was kind of overhyped for me. It was just okay. A spicy read that would have been perfectly fine as a standalone novel. Instead we get a series of follow-up novels where the same dynamics play out with different characters. It’s kind of like a limited series that for some reason gets picked up for more seasons than it needs. If you really enjoyed The Never King, then just stop there. More of a good thing is not necessarily better.

How many books are in the tell me lies series?

Yes, this is a three-book series. I have noticed that people get confused with this book because of the title of the first book being so iconic. While the sequels do follow the characters and continue the story, they do not have the same ‘wow’ factor as the first book. ‘Too Good to Be True’ continues to build the world and ‘The Last Goodbye’ wraps up any loose ends. As for the box set or an omnibus edition of Carrey Mill Malcolm’s „Tr additions“- these will have to contain all three books of the series, as there are no more books planned to be published.

How many books are in The Princess Diaries series?

Honestly, who's counting? The To All the Boys series is great and you should just read them all. Okay, fine. According to the internet, there are 11 main To All the Boys books. There are also millions of other books about Kitty’s sister, Linda. But To All the Boys features the story of Mia Corretti. I read the entire series last summer and absolutely loved it. The books get more in-depth in the later novels, exploring themes of therapy, activism and the challenges of growing up. In the 11th and final book, I felt that the author wrapped up the characters and their story lines up well and gave them a proper goodbye. 11 books is just the right number. It tells a complete story and then is done. There are so many other series that could follow this same model.

Is Unseelie a novel or a series?

10 Answers2026-01-13
The Gilded Wolves by Brian Cicero was another great read that is clearly the first part of a trilogy. I had that same feeling with Unseelie, it’s a great, rich story within the covers of the book, but the last chapter is set up perfectly to continue in the next book. As such, Unseelie is a series. But a great start to one.

Is the black cauldron novel part of a series?

5 Answers2025-04-27
Yes, The Black Cauldron is a part of The Chronicles of Prydain series. The Black Cauldron is the second book in The Chronicles of Prydain and continues the main character Taran’s journey through this series of fantasy, mythology and personal growth. It is probably one of the most intense and moral-challenging books in the series. Highly recommended to readers of epic fantasy as the whole Chronicles of Prydain series is a must-read.
