So the news for anyone interested in The Empyrean series by Rebecca Yarros is that there are to be two more books published in the series after Onyx Storm. The fifth book in the series is currently untitled but Rebecca has been speaking about the increased tension that will be in this book and I for one am hoping it will deliver. The sixth and final book in the series will conclude Violet’s journey in The Empyrean series and I hope it does her story justice. I have found Rebecca’s writing to be extremely addictive and I am so glad she is continuing to write more of this amazing series. With the way Onyx Storm has ended I am sure there will be plenty of speculation as to what is going to happen next in the series and I for one am hoping that there will be some twists and turns in the two upcoming books. These books are definitely must reads for anyone who loves dragons, romance and a healthy dose of battles between good and evil.

As for what’s next for Rebecca Yarros and her readers after Onyx Storm, Yarros plans for two more books to complete The Empyrean series for a total of six novels. Her fifth and sixth novels will continue to produce plenty of drama, tons of dragons, and, of course, lots of love. I’m looking forward to the conclusion of her work with this series.

I am so excited that Rebecca Yarros is continuing to write more books in The Empyrean series after Onyx Storm, the fourth book, releases. After Onyx Storm, she will continue to write two more books in The Empyrean series to bring the series to a close with a total of six books. The fifth untitled book will dig deeper into the world of The Empyrean and focus on the political intrique of the world as well as delving deeper into the dragon and their human bond.

Rebecca has managed to keep the pace of the story along with the world building phenomenal so far. I’m particularly excited to read more of the secondary characters such as Mira and Garrick, but ultimately to see how the rest of Violet’s story unfolds. So mark your calendars people, as the last two books in the series are going to be very good.

So long to The Empyrean series by the amazing Rebecca Yarros. Favorite series by me of late and she has two more books planned after Onyx Storm! Apparently there are to be 6 books total in the series and they will end with so. much. dragon. So much politics and growth and emotions. I am super curious about the 5th book as Rebecca hasn’t revealed too much but did say it would introduce some new alliances and conflicts. As for the 6th and final book in the series I anticipate it to be very closure oriented for the readers who are invested in this world. Especially Violet and Xaden. I shall patiently wait for these last two installments.

Is there a sequel after Onyx Storm? Spoilers included.

11 Answers2025-06-06
I did NOT just get emotionally manipulated by that ending. Without giving too much away, Kaelen’s arc is definitely left open to possibility for a sequel. I’ve been trying to search for any bits of info about a potential sequel online. There’s a fan-run wiki for the Storm series that contains interviews with the author, and I found a link to a virtual con panel interview with him from a few weeks ago. It seems like he’s still hard at work writing the continuation of the Storm saga, and I predict an announcement for the first book of the sequel series will be made late this year with a spring 2025 publication date. Too many plot threads were left dangling for my taste.

The ‘Onyx Storm’ series has been of great interest to many readers and to provide insight on this epic work, the books in the ‘Onyx Storm’ series are as follows: ‘Onyx Storm: The Rising’ (2018) where our heroine is introduced and her struggle to cope with her turbulent life is portrayed. ‘Onyx Storm: The Awakening’ (2019) further delves into the story introducing further twists and unexpected turns of the plot. ‘Onyx Storm: The Reckoning’ (2020) explores action-packed confrontations as expected. The final installment to the series is ‘Onyx Storm: Legacy’ (2021) and we can assure you that this will be one fantastic read for you as well, once you have picked up the first installment.

Is Garwood planning to release a new book soon?

12 Answers2025-05-15
I have a feeling she may be slowing down. We haven’t had a book from her in about a decade and it seems to me that she’s getting slower and slower with her releases. I wouldn’t blame her, though. She’s had a very long and successful career, and I’m sure she deserves to be in semi-retirement. Meanwhile, historical romance has branched out into so many sub-genres, and I love her old books, but I’m not holding my breath for another one. In the meantime, her backlist is wonderful and I can happily re-read The Secret and For the Roses instead.

Are there any sequels planned for book the obsession after the movie?

Both the novel and the film are beautifully ambiguous at the ending. It is left to us to wonder whether our protagonist has finally found safety or if he has merely found a new way to be consumed by his fixations. Any sequel would have to answer this question for the reader, and sometimes the answer to a question is less powerful than the question itself. I want to cherish those stories that allow me to sit with my feelings of unease for a while longer. Not knowing is all. Thus while I may wish the author to continue his protagonist’s story in some form, there is much to be said for a writer’s resisting the temptation to do so and letting that perfect silence stand as it is: unsettling and beautiful in equal measure. It is a more mature choice.

Is there a third book after 'House of Sky and Breath'?

8 Answers2025-06-25
I just finished House of Flame and Shadow by Sarah J Maas and I am just blown away by how she recontextualized the entire first two books. I mean I had totally forgotten some of the little details that were just thrown in of no importance in Earth and Blood and Blood and Sand, but all of them become super super important in this book. So if you read the first two books then you should totally read them again before jumping into the third. I know it’s a lot to ask for, but it really does reward a series reread because you can really see the planning and care that Maas put into the world she created right from the beginning. We learn so much more about the Asteri, the Gates, and the history of the Fae worlds. And it all just clicks into place in the most surprising yet inevitable way. The third book definitely makes the first two better than they were before.

How many books are in The Last King series?

4 Answers2026-04-07
Note that The Last King series proper consists of five “official” books, but diehard fans like myself will tell you to read the companion short story “The Black Herald” between Book 4 and Book 5. It is the best way to experience the true development of the protagonist from a tough, rough-around-the-edges-outlaw-type to a noble, reluctant leader. And the last book’s cover art, with the broken-up crown, still sends shivers down my spine.

When will dark star trilogy book 3 be released?

10 Answers2026-07-27
I’ve been scouring every interview and social media post for clues about the release of Book 3. The author, Marlon James, has been pretty tight-lipped, but based on the gaps between the first two books, I’d speculate late 2024 or early 2025. The second book, 'Moon Witch, Spider King,' dropped in 2022, and given the epic scale of this series, it’s understandable why the wait might be longer. Fans like me are hyped because the trilogy blends African mythology with gritty fantasy, and each book feels like a cinematic experience. James isn’t the type to rush perfection—his world-building is meticulous. If you’re new to the series, now’s the perfect time to dive into 'Black Leopard, Red Wolf' and its sequel. Trust me, the payoff will be worth it. In the meantime, I’m rereading and dissecting every detail to tide me over.

Are there any Abbi Glines book-to-movie adaptations planned?

4 Answers2025-07-18
As of right now, there are no plans for any Abbi Glines novels to be made into films, but the author does have a strong fan base for works such as Breathe and Because of Low. We will post updates from the author’s official site, as well as her publisher’s, on any adaptations.

Is there a sequel planned for rainmaker novel?

1 Answers2025-05-02
I’ve been trying to keep up with all the gossip regarding the eagerly awaited follow-up to ‘Rainmaker’. Although nothing has been officially confirmed by the author in terms of a sequel to ‘Rainmaker’ (although he does leave a lot of plot threads dangling at the end of the book and makes all the main characters very ‘human’ so can definitely see a sequel to this being done well and following the main character as he tries to pick up the pieces of his life and move on from his mentor), I would hope that the author would return to the world of ‘Rainmaker’ for a sequel. There are already a lot of plot threads laid out that have been left dangling at the end of the book and I would hope that the author wouldn’t leave too many of them dangling for too long. There are hints dropped in interviews with the author who says he is not finished with the Rainmaker world and is working on new ideas for the characters. It is well known that the author takes his time to produce sequels of equal impact to the first book and so when he does get round to writing the follow-up to ‘Rainmaker’ it will be worth the wait. ‘Rainmaker’ was an excellent novel that was full of very real characters and had a great story with lots of twists and turns and I have no idea where the author could take the story next but I’m sure it will be brilliant. While I wait for hopefully the sequel to Rainmaker to be announced, I’ve been rereading parts of the book, searching for things that I had totally missed when I read them the first time. So much foreshadowing in the last chapters of the book, I get the feeling that the author is laying the groundwork for the second installment of the Rainmaker world. One of the biggest ways that I see this is in the way that the main character’s relationships evolve. Most notably with his estranged family members, but also with a few of his friends, as well as the man that has been acting as a sort of mentor to him in his quest for recovery. The author occasionally posts on his social media accounts about his writing process and I almost despair every time I see a snippet of something new that he’s working on. Hopefully it’ll be the sequel to Rainmaker.

Are there any new Shannara books coming out soon?

9 Answers2025-07-16
oh thank goodness I had this flash of hope that the answer to this question would be 'yes'. alas, after reading the thread, I am brought back to reality. I kind of knew this already though. part of me had held out for a secret announcement of new WSh books though. Oh well, I'll just have to be content with the memories of the book that most impacted me as a child - The Elfstones of Shannara (which still makes me cry). Does anyone know of any other books/series out there that have a similar 'classic quest' feel to them? I'm going to go do some browsing to try to find something to take the place of WSh in my life right now. Thanks for the reality check, everyone.
