Yes, there are many. Some movies are even made from books with such a dynamic, like “The Duke of Mount Deer” or “50 Shades of Grey”. If you enjoyed such a tension in a book, you might enjoy “Her Possessive Mate” as well. This novel is about a werewolf Alpha whose protective instincts are so strong that they are even terrifying. The story explores the emotional conflict of his mate in great detail. Many serials feature “Her Possessive Mate” as one of their popular choices among readers of high-stakes romantic dramas featuring one werewolf Alpha.

I’ve recently gotten hooked on a genre of films & books that contain very intense male leads. What makes them so great is that they are very possessive of the female lead(s), which makes for a very thrilling and sometimes dramatic love story. One of the most recent movies I’ve read was “After” which is a book by Anna Todd. The male lead, Hardin, is a very brooding, jealous, and possessive character of the female lead, Tessa. The story was very addictive to read, and I loved every moment of it. Another great pick for anyone that enjoys this type of story is “Fifty Shades of Grey” which is based off of the novels by E.L. James. The male lead, Christian Grey, is a very controlling and obsessive person who is obsessed with Anastasia. The two have a very up and down relationship which makes for a very interesting story. Lastly, I saw a movie called “Secretary” which stars Maggie Gyllenhaal and James Spader. The movie is centered around a complex relationship of a woman and her employer who is very possessive of his secretary. The two have a intense relationship, but it is never truly meant to be in a healthy way. These movies and books are perfect for people that love very intense and all-consuming love stories.

I love to watch romance movies with possessive male leads. They’re so intense and emotional. Right now I’m re-watching Twilight because it’s one of my favorite books by author Stephenie Meyer. Of course there are some very protective and even controlling moments between Edward and Bella but I know that most people will agree with me that these moments are iconic. The Notebook is another favorite of mine and it’s also a classic romance movie. Noah’s obsessive pursuit of Allie is almost border line but it’s sweet because he loves her so much and he wants to be with her for the rest of his life.

If you’re open to watch foreign films, ‘A Werewolf Boy’ is a sweet and endearing Korean fantasy-romance where the male lead’s primal protectiveness towards the female lead will melt your heart. On the other hand, ‘Unfaithful’ starring Richard Gere is a gripping thriller where possessiveness turns deadly when the husband finds out that his wife has an affair with a young stranger. These movies portray possessiveness in two very different ways and that’s what makes them so interesting to watch. With unforgettable performances, the films portray messy but passionate relationships that will leave you breathless.

A number of novels have been adapted into films with possessive male leads, although they are generally more light-hearted than ‘Players’. I have already mentioned ‘The Duff’ which is a funny adaptation of Kody Keplinger’s novel. The male lead, Wesley, is initially rather teasing of the protagonist, Bianca, but becomes very protective of her as the story progresses. Another adaptation that is more on the seductive side is ‘365 Days’. The book was written by Blanka Lipińska and the film is a very true to the book adaptation. The male lead, Massimo, kidnaps the female lead, Laura, and tells her that she will be his for the next year and that she must fall in love with him within that time.

The 2011 Wuthering Heights adaptation portrays the obsessive love of Heathcliff for Catherine in a hauntingly beautiful way. This gothic tale sets the atmosphere of torment and possessiveness that Heathcliff feels towards Catherine. Another classic novel that depicts possessive love is that of The Phantom of the Opera and his love for Christine. His tragic and sometimes terrifying love for her makes for an interesting story and film and portrays a different take on possessiveness.

‘Dangerous Liaisons’ (1988) – While not strictly ‘romance’ the historical setting for this adaptation of Choderlos de Laclos’ 1782 novel of the same name makes it suitable for consideration. Although the film focuses primarily on the manipulative aristocrat Valmont and his possessiveness, the story does also show the negative affect that this sort of love can have on the lives of others. There are dramatic and dark moments within this movie but overall it is a solid adaptation that represents the decadent and emotionally cruel 18th century aristocracy well.

I hope someone can recommend a TV show that I haven’t heard of yet. My watchlist is getting very long from this thread.

Audiobooks can actually make a huge difference in the «Possessive» genre, and make lines that would sound cheesey on paper sound very visceral and even commanding instead. For example, “It Ain’t Me, Babe” by Tillie Cole is a Possessive book, and I listened to it on audio with multiple narrators. The audiobook really drove home the possessive culture of the MC club in the book, and you could really hear the grit and threat in the narrators’ voices. If you’ve read a book in this genre before and thought the dialogue was a bit over-the-top, you might be converted to loving audiobooks of this genre.
