Goodreads lists them in order, but sometimes user shelves get it wrong. The official series page on the publisher's website is the definitive source. According to that, it's the sequence starting with the 2018 debut. I trust that over any third-party list. So, for anyone doubting, just go to the source. It'll take two minutes and settle any internal debates.

The definitive answer, from someone who has them all on a shelf: left to right, it's 'Rules of Prey', 'Code of Honor', 'Dark Angel', 'Red Cobra', 'Viper's Blood', 'Night Stalker'. That's the publication order and the intended reading order. Some series play with timelines, but this one is strictly linear. What you see is what you get. Simple. Effective. Now, which one is the best? That's a harder question.

I keep a note in my phone: Trapp 1-6 = Rules, Code, Dark, Red, Viper, Night. Easy mnemonic. Sometimes I forget whether 'Viper's Blood' or 'Red Cobra' comes first. The mnemonic helps: Red before Viper alphabetically, and that matches the release years (2021 before 2022). So there's a logic to it. Anyway, follow that and you can't go wrong.

Book 1
Six years ago, I gave everything to the boy who set my world on fire… my heart, my body, my trust. The next day, he vanished without a word.
Life hasn’t been kind since. I buried my parents the same week I brought my newborn son home. At eighteen, I became both a mother and a guardian to my teenage sister, and now I've discovered my husband is living a double life.
My son, Jaxon, is angry and acting out so it's time for a fresh start.
I never expected that fresh start to lead me to a sleepy mountain town hiding a secret… or back to him.
Because this town borders a hidden pack of wolf shifters, and one of their alphas is the same boy who left me with more than just a broken heart.
He left me with his son.
Book 2
Poppy was never the quiet one.
While her sister survived by holding everything together, Poppy survived by feeling everything out loud, until devastating truths and impossible revelations smothered the fire inside her with shadows she can’t explain. Whispers creep into her mind. Voices call her name in the dark.
As Paige’s light rises, Poppy’s darkness answers.
Thrown into a supernatural world she never asked for, Poppy finds herself surrounded by wolves who look at her like fate has already claimed her. Their pull is undeniable. Their attention suffocating, and the darkness inside her is growing harder to ignore.
With threats closing in, Poppy must decide whether to keep running from what she’s becoming… or embrace the role destiny has given her.
Light may have saved the world, but darkness decides how it ends.

Taking a shortcut through a dark and remote alley on Halloween night proved to be a life changing decision of research scientist, Jasper Greene.
Bitten by a zombie and brutally attacked by a group of werewolves, he was left for dead only to be discovered and rescued by a vampire king who took him home to heal. Delighted to discover that Jasper's research was on genetics with a focus on elongating life (for which he often used himself as a test subject due to lack of money), the vampire king assigned him the task of shifting the vampire DNA so that it was less obvious what they were when in the company of humans. With his assistant, Lila, in tow he was provided a lab and set to work. With toxins from werewolves and zombies mingling with the vampire blood he was provided during his healing time, Jasper struggled to adjust to his new body while he did his best to accommodate the vampires until the opportunity to escape presented itself. But, where does a man who has vampire, werewolf and zombie traits go?
"The Beginning", is book 1 of the Jasper series.
LibraryThing and Goodreads have 'Listopia' lists created by users titled 'Jason Trapp Series in Order.' Those are usually accurate and include all the short stories and novellas. The advantage there is you can see user reviews for each entry as you go, which can be fun. You can also add them to your 'to-read' shelf in the correct sequence.
It's a more social way to track your progress. Sometimes the comments on those list entries will have spoiler-free notes like, 'Read this novella after chapter 12 of the main novel for maximum effect,' which is a level of detail you won't get from a bare list. The community aspect adds a fun layer to the chronological read-through.
Okay, but imagine reading 'The Patriot' first. The opening would be confusing, right? He'd be referencing past missions and dead friends you have no connection to. It would feel hollow. That's the test for any series order: does starting later diminish the experience? For this series, absolutely. So, begin where the author began: with 'The Enemies of My Country'. Let him introduce you to Trapp's world on his terms.
Nope, not a single one. I just checked my Kindle library and the author's official website to be sure. The 'Jason Trapp' series listing only includes the main novels. In today's market, it's common for authors to write short bridges, but this seems to be an exception. The story is very mission-driven, so each book is a complete operation from briefing to aftermath.
There's no lingering 'what happened in those six months between Book 2 and 3?' that a novella would fill. The narrative picks up where it needs to. I like that efficiency. It respects the reader's time and wallet.
The through-line is physical and psychological damage. Injuries sustained in one book might get a mention in the next. The toll isn't reset. His cynicism hardens, his body collects scars, and his trust erodes. That continuity of consequence makes him feel incredibly real and grounds the often over-the-top action.
Imagine finding a box of your own past diaries but reading them from oldest to newest versus the order you found them. The publication order is the 'finding them' order—it preserves the mystery and surprise. The timeline order is the clinical, chronological log. Which sounds more fun for a spy thriller?
The best part of reading in order is spotting the small callbacks. Later books reference operations or characters from the earlier ones. If you read out of order, those Easter eggs are meaningless. For maximum payoff, publication order is the way.
