Of course, until the author decides to announce something, we’re stuck to re-watch the series and try to find all the details and clues the author might have hidden in there for us fans. There are already tons of fan-made theories, as well as unofficial continuations, of the different possible directions the story could have taken. Some of them are even convinced that there is room for a prequel to explain the origins of the mysterious wish-granting entity. Others are keen to see side stories of less important characters in the series.

The themes of sacrifice and consequences could also be further explored in a sequel to the book many years after the events of the original. It would be interesting to see how the magic system works after a long period of time such as wishes slowly corrupting the user or a rebellion against the entity that grants the wishes. A spin-off could also explore the tragedies of other wishmakers, thus turning the book into an anthology style series.

I know The Wish has now come to a close and I am left with the bitter taste of no more, however so very frustrating that would be, it would be execrable to ever try to continue it in some poor manner. I would kill to have an anthology series of episodes, chapters, or however they chose to do it where each story followed someone or someone(s) with disasterously bad wish granting outcomes. Because the original had such incredible emotional res to the stories, an anthology series of more such would be incredible and never sully the memory of the original and its amazing acting, especially that one lead who played the wish dealer. Bonus wishpoints to include that one actor in various random cameos throughout the series, perhaps with only a few words of cryptic interaction with each story's wish granter.

'The Wish' is a standalone story in full completion of its emotional scope. Sequels would ruin it. But there’s plenty of room for a good spin-off like the mystical shopkeeper’s backstory or even some dark stories about the consequences of wishes in parallel universes. The author is obviously choosing quality over IP cash-grabbing, which is admirable. I just wonder if fan pressure might change that.

While there’s no sequel currently planned, there’s plenty of lore to support a spin-off. I’d love to read a story about the the protagonist’s best friend from the original story who barely made it through the huge wish effects and seeks redemption as a vigilante reversing others’ bad wishes. I think the original story’s bittersweet tone would support a really fun action story, or even a dark comedy that follows a team of ‘wish cleanup’ folks. There’s plenty of material for the creator to return to this world if they so choose.

'The Wish' is a complete and perfect story. But if I had to write a sequel, I would want it to be a prequel to the first person who ever made a wish. How did the rules of the entity come to be? Did it always twist the wishes of the desire-less, or did it become more bitter over the centuries? That could make for a really interesting book and leave 'The Wish' intact.

No. I'm good with that. The movie exists and is fun to watch. So, there is no need for the movie to be expanded. Not every story needs to be developed into a long, sprawling film. The need for more in our culture is exhausting. Let this fun and simple comedy be what it is: a short and sweet film that is a complete package in and of itself. It is a complete film, in the sense that you get to see it, laugh at it, and feel good about it. And sometimes that is enough. You don’t need to be sat down and forced to think about other films in order to get the most out of it. It is a cinematic snack. Most people go to the cinema to see films as ‘snacks’ rather than as seven-course meals. You don’t need a sequel to your bag of chips.

I haven’t come across any information confirming any spin-offs or sequels to ‘Gone’ from official sources, but I know there are plenty of fan-created projects (one-shot stories), etc. from the creators and other writers of other books by the same publisher too. For updates on any announcements of new projects based on ‘Gone’, be sure to follow the creators and the publisher on social media, sign up to their newsletters and look for news on reputable entertainment news sites and manga and book publisher blogs. I fell in love with this beautifully written book ‘The Promise’ by Pam Jenoff because of its honesty and the beautifully flawed main characters in the book. Although there are no sequels to this book, Pam Jenoff wrote other books like ‘The Memory Keeper’ and ‘The Silent Echo’ which have a similar feel and emotional intensity to ‘The Promise’. ‘The Memory Keeper’ in particular is a spiritual successor to ‘The Promise’ with its focus on forgiveness and second chances. As for more stories that pack the same emotional punch, I highly recommend reading the author’s short story collection, Whispers in the Dark. It is filled with wonderful stories of love, loss and redemption. While none of them are direct sequels to The Promise, they are all distant cousins in a sense and would likely resonate with readers who loved The Promise. Again, I feel that the author does an incredible job of evoking emotions in his readers and as a result, he is an author that I always make time to read.

Although it is not a sequel, such a book could give a more in-depth look at the events of the film. It would be a new perspective on the same material, like a new piece of a puzzle for the fan. Often out of print, these can usually be found used for a few dollars. These sort of items are a hobby in themselves for film fans. You sometimes find a real treasure that adds more to the beloved film than would be expected even if it’s not “canon” within the film itself. A real, physical piece of a film’s history.

Why do sequels exist? I just want to be able to read a completed story. I feel like ‘Heartless’ completed the story it wanted to tell, and then there would be no point for a sequel to exist. It would probably just rehash old situations and introduce even more conflict in order to water down the message that was already clearly portrayed. I like that the ending is left up to interpretation and allows people to use their imaginations and come up with their own interpretations of what could happen next. Sometimes the best fan theories and headcanons are even better than the actual sequel.

I’ve scoured forums, interviews, and articles across the web but there’s no sequel on the horizon to Andrea’s ghostly revenge tale. The book is a single-sitting read and its power would be dwindled if it were stretched out over multiple books. The author of Ask for Andrea is a writer of one-off psychological thrillers in the style of Ruth Ware or Shari Lapena. If you got a kick out of the supernatural detection in Ask for Andrea, you might want to check out The Broken Girls by Simone St. James. It’s another historical horror/mystery with a focus on a Gothic boarding school, full of dark secrets. But whereas that book is primarily focused on uncovering a mystery, Ask for Andrea is focused more on characters and is full of the sort of horror that creates a lot of emotional resonance. So, while it’s a great “if you liked this then you might also like this,” it doesn’t really need a sequel.

There is no announced sequel to ‘Camp Damascus’ but the very fanatical book fans are holding their breaths for more. The open-ended conclusion of the book plus the obscure ‘lore’ docs that the author somehow leaked via his beta readers will suffice for now. Instead of a straightforward sequel, perhaps a companion piece to be written – from the POV of another camper at the killer summer camp, perhaps even a ‘diary’ or journal type of account, presented as found-footage. Author knows that we are very hungry for more answers re: book. So, for now, be patient.

Just finished the last chapter of Lockwood & Co. and I can confirm that I'm reading exactly the same words as you right now. Miles Cameron seems to have gone quietly back to whatever he was doing before Lockwood, and there's been no mention of a direct sequel (which I rather think was a natural ending for the characters). I gather he writes in different worlds, so he's probably moved on to a new story by now. But (fingers crossed!) maybe he'll drop some hints on his social media. Have you seen any of his interviews recently? Often authors mention things in interviews that aren't mentioned in the later official announcements. So, this is a waiting game, and until he writes another book as fabulous as this one, I'll just have to haunt Cameron's online presence. A sequel would definitely be an instant pre-order for me.

Hey, can someone imagine a sequel to the movie Krull? It would probably be called ‘ Krull 2: The Glaiving’… No? I thought that was obvious. I bet the opening crawl would read: ‘Peace has reigned for ten years. But a new threat emerges from the sands of the Northern Wastes…’ Anyone could write that. Apparently, no one has. It seems that in 1985 there was no pulp writer on this earth who would have written this for a small amount of money, because this film’s license was not available or simply too boring to bother with. A historical curiosity.
