I download books for my Kindle from Amazon’s ‘Manage Your Content and Devices’ page, select the titles and click ‘Deliver or remove from device’. EPUBs I’ve sideloaded via email need only to be re-sent to the new device’s Send-to-Kindle email address. As I was transferring the titles for this review I finally had a chance to continue reading ‘My Second Chance Mate Is My Ex Alpha’s Nemesis’ – it’s a free read for Kindle Unlimited subscribers and has a great lead character and complicated conflict as he deals with a past bond and tries to form a new alliance that is danger to himself and others. The book is part of a very long series, so it’s made the transfer to this new device well worth it.

I recently upgraded to a new Kindle. You can transfer your existing content from your old Kindle to the new one. Since I had set up my old Kindle with my Amazon account, all of my eBooks were immediately available for download on my new Kindle. eBooks that I had purchased through Amazon were easily available.
Of course, this means you need to copy your sideloaded books to the new Kindle as well. Connect it to your computer using a USB cable and copy the relevant files to the 'Documents' folder on the Kindle. This all worked fine and I felt like a proper geek for a moment or two while checking that everything had indeed been transferred. Now, I can just pick up the Kindle and start reading anywhere and at any time.
Of course, this means you need to copy your sideloaded books to the new Kindle as well. Connect it to your computer using a USB cable and copy the relevant files to the 'Documents' folder on the Kindle. We did tell you that transferring books to your new Kindle would be easy, and it is! Even if you have bought eBooks before from Amazon, these can be added to your new Kindle using the Kindle app. Make sure you are logged into your new Kindle using the same email address and password used for your old Kindle, and then all of your previously purchased eBooks will be available for download. I have found many people to misunderstand this function because Kindle books are not simple files that one can email to themselves. Kindle books are protected by Digital Rights Management and are meant to be read within Amazon’s eco-system. I find it is like having a Netflix account. One does not transfer a movie from one TV to another. Instead, one simply logs into Netflix on the new TV. I forgot to check whether the book I requested from the library was a PDF. Most PDFs don’t read very well on the Kindle – the text is typically too small and doesn’t reflow to fit the screen. You can “Send to Kindle” a PDF and choose whether to have it automatically converted by Amazon, or not. I’ve had the converted version be almost as bad as just reading the PDF on a tablet, but sometimes it works okay. The book is converted by Calibre to MOBI or AZW3 as well, but that is essentially random and depends on the quality of the PDF that was created. I would recommend just trying to read the PDF on your tablet. If you really want to read it on your Kindle, you could try sending it with “Convert” in the subject line of the email, and hopefully it will work out okay for you. A lot of library eBooks are PDFs of scanned book pages, so don’t read very well on any eReader.

I’m familiar with this problem and it’s not made easy by Amazon but it is possible. The first thing I tried for this problem was the Family Library feature for sharing books between other accounts in your household. This is set up in the Amazon account holder’s settings for Amazon under ‘Amazon Household’. Once you have set up your other account(s) as part of your Amazon Household you can then add books to share in ‘Manage Your Content and Devices’.
No – that won't work (although that feature would be lovely for non-families too). In that case you need to remove the DRM protection. I use Calibre e-book management software with the DeDRM plugin to remove Amazon DRM protection from downloaded books, which can then be converted to whatever format is required to transfer the e-book to the other Amazon account holder by email or USB. There are plenty of online tutorials to guide you through removing Amazon DRM using Calibre.

This is super simple to do. Just Google ‘DeDRM tools Calibre’ and the first result should be a GitHub page for the plugin. Click to install and follow the instructions. Make sure your Kindle for PC app is authorized with your Amazon account. Download books to this app and then add the books from your Kindle’s data folder to Calibre (or connect your Kindle to your computer). The plugin will then strip the DRM from your books during the import process. From there you can right click on any book and change it to an EPUB file. You can then save this new EPUB file to anywhere on your computer. This whole process of transferring and converting your books is really quite simple, especially with a plugin doing all the hard work for you in the background.
