How To Unlock The Black Book In Tel Mithryn?

A rather confused paperback purist, here. I thought I'd give digital a try. So I have to pay a monthly subscription fee to read chapters, and I don't even get to own what I'm reading. Occasionally, the latest chapters are an extra charge on top of the subscription fee to read them. Is that really how this works? I'm having a bit of trouble getting my head around this. The books on my bookshelf don't ask for a subscription fee to read a book I've bought in paperback. It's clearly a very complicated library with lots of fine print.

My edition has some extra essays that were written for the 2010 release, and they are so good that the added heft of the book is well worth it. My reading experience is that of constantly being challenged by a great debater. At times, I could only manage 10 pages or so before my brain required several hours of recovery time. The bibliography alone is worth the cost of the book. I estimate that it will keep me reading for five years or so.

One thing to be aware of is the potential for ‘soft-locking’ – a scenario where, even after a condition has been met to unlock something, saving and then loading the game before the unlock has actually taken place leaves the player ‘stuck’. I’ve read accounts of corrupted save games and trigger bugs that prevent an unlock from occurring even when a player has been doing everything just right. The risk is smallest for players of modern games, with patched console versions the lowest risk of all – but for those playing older games on their original hardware, it’s something to be aware of before committing to an unlock-grind of dozens of hours or more. Make a backup of your save file from time to time, perhaps. Better to be safe than stuck.

I picked the Historian ending because the lore of this game is just so damn cool. Getting all 100 stone tablet fragments scattered across the whole world for that ending took a lot of work though. But the ending cutscene where you piece together the history of the isekai world and get to see the real truth was totally worth it for a lore buff like me.

‘Blackfire Book’ is a Psychological Thriller disguised as a Fantasy novel. At its core, ‘Blackfire Book’ is a story about knowledge and how it can be the greatest seduction of all. Blackfire Book follows Elara, a young academic trying to pay off some debts by translating a rare and mysterious ancient tome. But as Elara reads on through the book, she starts to see things that have never happened before. Or have they? The story is told from the perspective of an unreliable narrator and is influenced by a host of supporting characters including a seemingly honorable knight in armor named Torin with a secret to share regarding the book’s previous owner. Little touches make the greater whole even better, such as the red of the book's ink seeming to dry to a stain long past in candlelight. Each chapter begins with a separate character scribbling their own margin notes – which become increasingly deranged over the course of the book. My own personal favorite? When Elara attempts to incinerate a page only to find it fully intact the next morning. It's a scene that has lingered with me long after I'd closed the book and began to survey my own shelves. The story of the Blackfire Book, bound from the skin of the book's first reader, pops up unexpectedly in my mind from time to time. The few stories that have managed to make me wonder whether or not I'm stuck in the same sort of haze as the main character are the few that truly resonate with me. This is one of them.

I have no idea how long ‘The Lost Book’ is supposed to be. Every so often someone comes up with a new reference to ‘The Lost Book’ – some obscure passage in a private diary, a footnote in a biography – and for a while they go round telling everyone that it was 10 pages long, or 1,000. It’s all a great story, far better than any actual number. And it remains unknowable, just like Schrödinger’s novel – 10 pages long, 1,000 pages long – until someone opens it. And no one ever will.

This Week 6 Hard mode is for unlocking Girlfriend. I approached this level as a puzzle of different rhythm quirks for each song. Stress, for me, was one of the hardest songs because of the alternating double arrows. Going back and forth in Practice mode for certain sections until I got them was key to mastering them. I even found a few of these sections through the community and they include focusing on the shadows of the arrows instead of the notes themselves. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of grinding, waiting and itching to unlock Girlfriend (and her commentary between songs) – and believe me, her unlocking is one of the greatest feeling of all-time as it feels like you’ve grown as a player too.

Unfortunately, often the official translation is behind a paywall, but there are fan-made translations on the web. As for me, I do not support piracy, but for those works that have been officially translated years after the original publication, this is a big problem for readers. Some people feel less guilty if they read a fan TL and then buy the official version by the same author to support him or her. This, however, is a morally gray area.
