Is 'Release That Witch' Completed Or Still Ongoing?

After a long break, I'm ready to dive back into 'Release That Witch.' Did the web novel's story get a proper ending yet, or is it still being updated? Checking the author's status and hoping it's all wrapped up.

'Release That Witch' has been completed and fully translated. If you are looking for a more recent supernatural series, I just started reading 'The Lycan King’s Witch: Beneath the Crimson Moon' and it’s really good. The main characters are stuck in a forced marriage in a kingdom that is being threatened by an ancient curse. The tension between the two main characters is palpable.

This story has been completed. From my perspective as an audiobook lover, I point to the large collection of fan-made audio readings (in the form of Text-to-Speech compilations) that have been created for the entire novel, available on YouTube as large playlists of hundreds of hours of audio, complete for every chapter. The fact that a community considers a text to be ‘done’ and makes a TTS for a whole story which updates on a weekly basis would be stranger than strange. Thus all chapters of this very long story are available to listen to, hands-free, for those who prefer that.

There is good news for the fantasy lovers; unlike many of the other web novels, Release That Witch is a completed work. After five years of almost daily updates, the author of Release That Witch has brought the story of Roland to a close at the end of chapter 1,475. We get to see how he makes his kingdom into a beacon of progress by merging magic with the latest steam age technology.

It’s very clear how the themes of witches have evolved throughout the novel. In the early chapters, they were perceived to be nothing but feared outcasts, yet the ending finds a new respect for witches: they are the scholars and the engineers of a new world. The closure of Roland’s relationship with Nightingale was very sweet as well. A very good development of a love interest in a progression novel.

Although the main story was completed, it is likely to be expanded in spin-off stories. A light novel, which covers many of the arcs of the web novel, is already available for those who prefer to read shorter works. For a similar completed story that combines science and magic, see The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and Her Subjects, which is primarily focused on alchemy.

I can confirm that the Chinese web novel ‘Release That Witch’ has been completed. It is over 1,400 chapters long and the author did a great job in completing the web novel and keeping up with the quality of the novel throughout the long series of the Industrial Revolution of the main character Roland.

The final volume of ‘Release That Witch’ concludes the storylines of the Church conspiracy, the invasion by the demons, and the Witches gradually integrating into the society. The battles in the story have a very cinematic quality and are a great blend of magic and machinery, something that feels new in the world of fantasy.

The epilogue itself handles the various time jumps extremely well and shows the long term repercussions of the events with due care. Qidian International has also completed the translation, so readers can now follow along in English as the story concludes. Another completed work with equally labored over worldbuilding is The Lord of the Mysteries.

I finished reading the Story. The Story of a modern engineer from our world of today, reincarnated as a prince of a medieval kingdom and growing into a revolutionary leader for that world’s change was very satisfyingly wrapped up. The final arcs of the major characters were also well wrapped up, especially the witches. They had grown from a group of people persecuted and discriminated for their magic to influential figures of the kingdom ruled by Roland. The battles were epic and the good-byes were heart-wrenching. How the application of science and magic transformed the medieval world was also very well portrayed. It’s a very rare well-endued fantasy novel that actually reaches a good ending without going on forever.
