Honestly, skip the main cast. Take someone peripheral like Hanatarō Yamada and drop him into a gritty urban fantasy like 'Dresden Files'. His timid, healing-oriented personality is completely at odds with that world's cynicism. The dynamic is built on his persistent, gentle decency slowly irritating the hell out of a jaded wizard like Harry Dresden, who expects threats and finds a confused kid who just wants to help. The uniqueness comes from inverting the typical 'powerful outsider' trope. The crossover character is arguably weaker in raw combat but brings an alien morality that disrupts the local setting's norms.

Ever since I realized how many 'Bleach' crossovers just plug Ichigo into another power system, I've wanted to see something different. Think about Orihime Inoue in the world of 'Jujutsu Kaisen'. Her rejection of phenomena isn't just healing—it's a complete violation of Jujutsu's foundational rules about cursed energy manipulation. The conflict wouldn't be about her being strong, but about her existence being conceptually offensive to sorcerers who operate on cause and effect. Gojo Satoru would be fascinated, while someone like Geto might see her power as the ultimate curse, a reality-warping ability that makes a mockery of the balance they try to maintain.
Most fics make the crossover character adopt the new world's logic, but what if they don't? What if Uryū Ishida, with his Quincy arts, enters a world like 'Demon Slayer' and treats demon regeneration not as a biological mystery but as a spiritual imbalance to be purified? The dynamics shift from physical battles to ideological clashes. The Hashira wouldn't know how to handle someone whose techniques are so methodical and whose motivation isn't passion or duty, but a cold, inherited mandate to cleanse. The unique angle isn't the power scaling, but the profound cultural misunderstanding between two systems that both deal with supernatural threats but from opposite philosophical poles.
Start with a single, quiet scene that establishes the dissonance. Maybe Rukia Kuchiki trying to explain soul burial to a character from a sci-fi series where souls aren't proven to exist. The fic's heart would be in those conversations where the fundamentals of each universe grind against each other, not in the big fights. That's where you get dynamics you've genuinely never seen before.
