First-Person POV Web Novels & Beta Weak to Strong Stories

I came home to bury my sister and found a town that already buried the truth. Niamh left the Dublin police force a year ago, after a case went wrong and a bottle became her closest friend. Now her sister Siobhan is dead in the fishing village of Dún Aonghasa, and Niamh returns to a cottage that still has her key under the flowerpot, a fishing weight on the kitchen table, and a note that says "You're home." The town is strange in ways she can't name: twenty boats that never go out on the full moon, a cooperative charter with laws no one will explain, a harbormaster named Declan who watches her like he's waiting for her to remember something. When a wolf's eyes flash in her mirror one night, Niamh realizes the town is a pack, and her sister died inside its law. Declan knows more than he says. So does every neighbor who brings her casseroles and warnings. The deeper Niamh digs, the more the pack closes ranks, and the more she feels the pull of a bond she never asked for and the heat of a man who may have helped kill her sister. To find the truth, she must decide whether to arrest the killer or become the one thing this pack has feared for twenty years: a challenge. Place and Time: Dún Aonghasa, a small fishing village on the west coast of Ireland, in 1997.

The new-moon attacks began the week Wren's brother died. Now the Palouse Ridge pack blames a feral rogue for the slaughtered calves along the territory line, and Wren, the pack's youngest border-warden, is the only one who keeps finding him first. What she finds is not a monster. It is a half-frozen man with grain in his hair and her brother's old wound on his shoulder, a man whose scent makes her wolf roll over. Elias shifts only at the new moon, cursed to be human when the pack is strong and wolf when it is blind. He knows what happened the night Owen died, and he will only tell Wren if she helps him break a curse older than the pack itself. But the curse was cast by the pack's own founders, and the price of breaking it is a public claim the Council will never allow. As the cull closes in, Wren must choose between the pack that raised her and the mate the moon gave her. Place and Time: The Palouse Ridge pack territory in eastern Washington, 1979.
