To Be A Shifter

To Be A Shifter

“Of course little one. We spent the next hour talking about many different things. I mostly asked about him. Things about family, and favorite things. So far I learned he was two hundred and sixty years old. His favorite color was green, and he loves books. He has one younger sister and unfortunately his parents passed a decade ago. I couldn’t bring myself to say much about myself. I was able to say a bunch of things that I used to enjoy. He already knew I was the pack slave just from my unruly state, but thankfully he never mentioned anything.

The Butcher's Bride

The Butcher's Bride

“You… save them?” He nods once. “I send them to the country. To my homes. The ones no one knows about. They heal. They get therapy. Education. Clean records. New names.” “But why?” I ask. His expression shifts, just slightly. “Because my father kept a girl once. Twenty-two. A slave. He called her property.” “I was fifteen when I found her in the wine cellar, chained like a fucking dog.” I inhale sharply. “She killed him,” Leon continues.

The Rejected Slave

The Rejected Slave

I quickly got down from the bed and rushed out of the room, making my way to the slave dining. When I got there, the long dining table was already filled to the brim with slaves; young and old alike. I managed to find an empty seat facing a male slave and sat down. We were often divided into groups to share a big bowl of food, which often led to fights and arguments about who would eat the most; that moment was always when the elderlies would scold us, telling us we had more stamina than them and should eat less, leading to rebellion from the younger ones.

Straying Echo: Fighting to Escape an Obsessed Alpha

Straying Echo: Fighting to Escape an Obsessed Alpha

I sighed before I answered. “I-I don’t know. He wanted to punish my parents for what they did, I guess. He decided that if he couldn’t outright kill me, then he’d make me suffer for the rest of my life instead. I was made into a pack slave that day, as I hadn’t formally joined the pack yet.” Travis frowned as I spoke, thinking hard before speaking again. “That is insanity. Abusing a ten-year-old won’t affect someone who is dead and gone. Why did no one help you?” His anger was barely contained, and I shrank into Atlas’s chest, his arms squeezing lightly to let me know he had me.

Rejected Omega Mate

Chapter 2 _Jake's pov I heard from my father that new slaves were arriving at our pack soon. I grumbled when he told me to go out and inspect them. I didn't like being worked out, especially, when it comes to checking out new slaves. I hated them, all of them. Their features and everything disgust me. Yet, I had no choice. My father is the Alpha and I am just a son to him. Although I'm twenty-four, my father refused to step down for me until I'm twenty-five.

FROM SLAVE TO LUNA

FROM SLAVE TO LUNA

“The General says we should not kill anyone till we get to the stronghold” The cloaked figure waves his hands, and the soldier lowers his blade. I sigh in defeat, wondering why it is so hard to die. “Assemble every slave, we leave at dusk”, I hear him order and as soon as he says this, things become busy. Some soldiers transform into their wolves running to God knows where, while the others round up the slaves. My wrists burn where the silver chain bites into my skin. The Nythera wolves march me and the other survivors into their territory, their small talk and cruel laughter irritating in my ears.

SLAVE TO THE RUTHLESS MASTER

She sniffed and glanced up to her father who looked less concerned smoking from his pipe. "How could you father, how could you be so cruel to give me out in slavery to the hands of that beast Master of Guthram clan father" Galane cried furiously wiping the tears streaming down her eyes. "Don't ask me such stupid question; Tell me, Of what use are you to me? You are not a male and you worth nothing here" If I should leave you, you would get married soon to a useless man and become someone's property so I have to make use of you and make money from you" her father shrieked.

A Queen Among Snakes

A Queen Among Snakes

“When I was five, your Emperor, Zixin had my mother killed.” Enraged hisses sound out around the bonfire, I guess they didn’t know what had happened to my mother, but I can feel their rage, some are even shedding tears. I can see my mother was very loved by her people. “When that happened my father fled with me to the United States to protect me and give me a new life, and I got a new life, but not a good one. You see, we were unlucky to come across a hostile pack. A pack who mauled my father to death when all he was trying to do was protect me,” I say as tears pool in my eyes. I feel Chris come up behind me and place his hands on my shoulders, squeezing them comfortingly. I reach out and sq

I have to start by saying THANK YOU, as someone with PTSD i related to everything written here. The way you showed a journey through the struggles with mental health and overcoming it step by step, not being cured, but surviving... Mei's story means more to me than i can ever describe. Thank you!

Frequently Asked Questions

The first time I picked up '12 Years a Slave', I knew it wasn't going to be an easy read—but it was one I couldn't put down. It's Solomon Northup's harrowing memoir of being kidnapped and sold into slavery in the 1840s, despite being a free Black man from New York. The book details his brutal experiences on plantations in Louisiana, where he endured physical and psychological torment for over a decade before finally regaining his freedom. What struck me most was Northup's unwavering resilience and his ability to document the inhumanity around him with such clarity. It's not just a story of survival; it's a testament to the strength of the human spirit.

One thing that lingers with me is how Northup's narrative contrasts the 'civilized' North with the barbarity of the South, exposing the hypocrisy of a nation built on freedom yet dependent on slavery. The scenes where he describes the camaraderie among enslaved people, their secret moments of joy, and the rare kindnesses from some white folks add layers to the story. It’s a heavy book, but essential—it forces you to confront the darkest corners of history while reminding you that humanity can persist even in the worst circumstances. I still think about the moment he finally reunites with his family; it’s bittersweet because you know so many others never got that chance.
