The girl at the bobbing-for-apples booth did generate some parent protest, because she had come dressed as Eve, with a skin-tone leotard, a long blonde wig, and a stuffed snake curled strategically around her body.

As the night wore on, the music grew louder and the dancing more energetic. My mates and I were having the time of our lives, with our children running around in their costumes, laughing and spinning to the rhythm of the music. Suddenly, Blaze grabbed my hand and pulled me into a dramatic dip, his mask glinting in the light. "It's Halloween!" Arin giggled happily rushing down the stairs, looking so cute in her mouse costume with the pink ballet shoes and tutu.
