He came to find her at nine. She was on the window seat with one of the brown-paper books, the Japanese short stories, reading the third one which was about a man who collected other people's lost umbrellas and kept them in a room he never entered. The rain had come back properly, the committed kind, hitting the windows in gusts that made the apartment feel more enclosed than usual, more like a place you were in by choice rather than circumstance.

Since White had a coupon, we could go for 2 hours, but were we really gonna sing for that long? I can see why this kind of place would be fun with students but I think it'd be better if there were more people. It's kind of weird with just the two of us. "Do you wanna order something some food or a drink?" White asked as he looked through this weird book that had a list of songs. "Can you do that here?" I replied. "Here." He handed me a menu. I toss it open and start flipping pages. Nothing so far, just some illustrations. But it doesn’t take long to see it won’t be enough.

I just looked at him. "What are you talking about?" He just facepalms first before answering me. "What I mean is 5 minutes have already passed Nini since she said those words. Get it?" I slowly nod in answer. Wait? 5 minutes?! "We just park the bus, Nini. See?" he said as he pointed at the window. I looked there and saw many students gathering. Oh my gosh! When it came to them, I just couldn’t say no. I smiled, even though they couldn’t see it. I was about to take the storybook when someone else reached for it first.
