THE STING OF THE VAMPIRE'S BITE
Before I could process the sight or question the bird about why it had led me here, the water began to stir.
Ripples spread across the surface, and then the water rose, forming a shape—a portal, glowing faintly as though beckoning me forward.
I turned to the bird, which now hovered in front of me, almost expectantly. It flapped its wings once, gave me what looked like a playful wiggle, and then, without hesitation, dove straight into the water portal.
I blinked, staring at the spot where it disappeared. My heart pounded as I whispered to myself, "What the hell have I gotten myself into now?"
