And Ava screamed.
She came back to herself as her body convulsed, energy roaring through her. Her bones shifted, cracking, rearranging. Her veins burned with violet fire. Her eyes flared gold, then deep red, then gold again. She was both vampire and something more—something unspoken.
Across from her, Achi’s body pulsed with silvery light. His muscles stretched, his limbs snapping into new form. Fur rippled across his skin but didn’t fully consume him—he wasn’t just turning into a wolf.
