I frowned, shaking my head. “Declan, I don’t even understand what’s going on. You can’t just—”
Before I could finish, an elderly woman approached, her gray hair braided down her back, her posture strong despite her age. Her eyes were pale silver, and it seemed to see right through me.
“Elda,” Declan said. “Take her to the east wing. Make sure she’s comfortable.”
The woman bowed slightly.
“Yes, Alpha.” Then she turned to me, her tone gentler. “Come, child. You’ll be safe here.”
