I turn my gaze to the television show even though I am not paying attention to what is really happening because of the perv standing right beside me. “My darling.” This whisper flinches me as soon as it falls into my ear drums. I still keep my attention locked into reality show. I’m totally oblivious of what is happening. “You can’t keep pretending not to hear me” he snickers. My eyes spread the more as he sits right beside me. He completely turns his face to me and looks directly at me. I hold my peace and keep staying at the TV with a scowl. He chuckles and relaxes comfortably on the couch. Making crunchy noises as he balances.

I blew more bubbles into the liquid, my cheeks warming with embarrassment at the thought of him catching me watching. But then, I felt his presence beside me – his warmth and his energy enveloping me like a protective shield. He slid onto the stool next to mine, his thigh brushing against mine. "Hey there," he said, his voice low and playful. I glanced at him from the corner of my eye, feigning innocence. "Oh, hi." He chuckled, leaning in closer. "You know, I saw you watching.So stop pretending like you weren’t.” My cheeks flushed as I pretended to be surprised. "What? I don't know what you're talking about."

“That’s what I’m doing.” “No, you’re not,” I said. “You’re pretending to care because it’s convenient for you.” “That’s not true,” he said. “Really?” I challenged. “Because from where I’m standing, it looks like you’re doing exactly what you want, with whomever you want, and then acting surprised when people react to it.” His eyes narrowed slightly. “What is that supposed to mean?” “You tell me,” I replied. Another step. Closer now. Too close.

We both stayed as far apart as possible, with me lying stiffly on the right, and him on the left, the distance between us absurd for the size of the mattress. The silence stretched until I couldn’t take it anymore. “This is weird, right?” I asked softly. He turned his head toward me. “A little." “But like in a good way,” I added quickly. His voice was barely a whisper. “Always.” I turned onto my side, facing him. “You don’t have to do this, you know. I’m not—” “I want to,” he interrupted gently. “You can pretend I’m not here if it makes you feel better."

Letting out a small sigh, I took a seat next to him, and tried lightening the mood. “Are you okay?" I asked calmly, my tone low and full of concern. He nodded, “Yes! I mean I managed to get my best friend's wife missing on the first day of their honeymoon, but other than that I am good. I mean I could have taken a tour guide but no... I just had to pretend to be what I wasn't," He voiced, pretending to be strong but I could see through his shell, he was just like me... a flawed individual who can't do anything right even if he tries.

Aimee POV The doctor has been around and left, he is friends with Alec and I for once can’t believe he is doing all of this. He hasn’t left my side since he arrived, I can see that he is overthinking everything. I for myself a cup of coffee and walk to sit next to him. He looks at me and then turns his head and focus on his hands again.

I suddenly felt embarrassed so I pretended to look at something behind him. “You’ve been staring at that blank wall for a while now.” He said teasingly. I didn't even realize that there was nothing behind him but a wall. I felt even more embarrassed knowing that my actions only confirmed his suspicions. I just pretended that I didn’t hear him and I ate the dinner he brought for me. I heard him chuckling but as soon as I looked in his direction, it didn’t seem like he was smiling at all.

I was already finally having the moment on my own alone when I ran into someone beside the pool. My heartbeat instantly became erratic as I watched his whole body. He was standing two meters away from me, wearing black tux. In his left hand was a glass of rum and his eyes were keenly observing me. I swallowed hard and continued walking with the intention of ignoring him. However, he wasn't thinking the same thing. He blocked my way. “Is it exhausting to pretend?” Once again, he's mocking me. Nothing's new. He's always like this to me. “Is it exhausting to keep a smiling face when you're a mess inside? Is it fun playing with people? You manipulative witch!”

“The silent human traffic control thing.” He frowned. “I didn’t do anything.” I smiled. Ah. Denial phase. Interesting. Later, when I went outside to sit on the steps and pretend my life wasn’t being actively rewritten by wolves and forests with opinions, he followed. Not obviously. Not like a guard. He just… sat nearby. Close enough to talk. Far enough to pretend he wasn’t hovering. I leaned back on my hands and looked at him. “You know,” I said, “if you’re trying not to be obvious, you’re failing.”
