The Lycan King's Mate Ava Novels & Stories

He stood at the edge of the room with his chest heaving and his hands shaking, and he did not come closer, could not come closer, though I did not know how I knew that, I just knew it the way you know that fire is hot and ice is cold. "You are my mate," he said, and his voice was hollow, empty, like someone had carved out his insides and left nothing but echoes. "The goddess has cursed me." I knew what a mate was because every human knew, even the children, even the ones who had never seen a Lycan in their lives.

My heart almost leapt out of my chest before I turned around. “I…uhm… I…” I stuttered, trying not to let my surprise show through me when I saw, through the window next to us, that the hooded figures had disappeared. “Are you deaf? What are you doing, Ava?” The Lycan king's voice held an angry edge as he stared at me with his piercing blue eyes. He must have heard my soft breaths because his nostrils flared and his nostrils twitched as though he smelled something. “Nothing, your majesty” I answered hastily, moving my hand down to scratch the back of my neck nervously.

He roared and tightened his grip till his claws were all buried inside my neck, making me whimper in more pain. I couldn't move as the pain seemed to freeze me entirely. I would feel my breath leaving. I am dying at the end. "I will tell you what you want to know since you will be a corpse in the next minute." He paused and laughed croakingly. "Ava is still alive and was taken to the kingdom by Jaden, who is her true mate. You will perish while they mate, mark, and marry each other. They will both rule the crescent moon pack and Lycan kingdom as the Alpha and Luna. A loser!!" He spat in my face while I saw him raise his other hand.

I tried in a soft tone, “I need to talk to you.” He didn’t look up. His fingers kept flipping through papers as if I didn’t exist. My eyes burned, but not from sadness. It was pure fury. “Ava ran off with Lyra,” I said, lowering my voice as if sharing an embarrassing secret. “They say they met King Lycan along the way. That he helped them.” That made him lift his head. His eyes locked onto mine, dark and stormy. “Who the hell said that?” “Just rumors, love,” I replied sweetly. “You know how people make things up. Besides, do you really think a king would take notice of someone so insignificant?”

She told me all about how the Lycan King acted unlike himself and rebuked his chosen mate for me. “The Lycan Prince Byron made a request to the Lycan King. He asked the king to give you to him after he stopped the chosen Princess from hitting you-” Ava was how I found out about my misconception. The fact that The Lycan King wasn't the one that saved me from his chosen mate didn't sit well with me. Especially after I had assumed that he did. Turned out it was the Lycan Prince that I found charming. The dark robes that I caught glimpse of before I passed out that day should have been a giveaway.

“And that means she’s ours to protect, too.” The tension eases, but the fire in my chest doesn’t cool. Naia may not fully understand the depth of what it means to be my mate, but I’ll show her. And anyone who dares to threaten her will face the full force of the Lycan King. Even if it is another Lycan king.

I asked the Lycan Wolf and she sighed, "That is exactly what I'm trying to figure out. Why are you in Addy's body?" I bit my lower lip in confusion as I kept trying to connect the scattered puzzle pieces. "Only one person can give an answer to this." She said and I raised a brow. "Who?" "The Pack's oldest witch." I blinked at the discovery, so the Lycans had a witch in their pack? "But, who is Adeline in this pack?" I asked again. "Adeline is the Luna of this pack, Alpha Reign's wife and mate." Another gasp left my lips at those words from her. Of all the people I could have woken up in their body, it had to be the Alpha King's Mate?

I began but paused when I realized that I couldn't really tell them about Amelia's being a human. Werewolves never had human mates. And here, it was about the Lycan king. It never happened before that a Lycan king would be mated to a human. At least, it was unheard of until now. "Where is she? Why did you not introduce her to the pack?" Ava bombarded me with her questions. "She hates me." I said after racking my mind for something to say regarding Amelia's unwillingness to accompany me back to the pack. "What? She hates you? But why? What did you do?" Ava continued. Her eyes were lit up with slight displeasure which was directed towards me.

~Astrid~ I felt something calling me, i didn’t know what it was that kept calling me but then i didn’t know what it was but i knew that the feeling was one that i couldn’t describe. “Oh my, did you see the Lycan King Dante? He looks like a statue that the moon goddess made herself.” “He doesn’t look like what we heard in stories as children, they said that Lycans were beasts that were merciless and ruthless but then he didn't look anything like that.”

I felt a strange feeling of need and despair, as if I needed something to calm my nerves. Tristan poured another drink, his fingers brushing mine as he offered. "So, Veronica, who is this guy that's giving you so much trouble?" I took a sip and let the alcohol burn my throat before answering. "These are the Lycan Kings, Lucas and Simon." Tristan's eyebrows furrowed. "Ah, twins. They have a good reputation. And you alone." I nodded, feeling the warmth of the drink spread through me. "Yes. I don't think I want to bring it."
