“There should be a balance. In the world we live in, we have Good and we have Evil. The two coexist together. And we have accepted it. Evil exists so that we appreciate the Good. Good exists to subdue and neutralize the effects of the Evil. We all need the Good and the Evil to live in peace.” The air starts to calm as I speak. I can feel their curiosity peak. They are curious to know what I have to say. “When there is more Good than Evil, there would be a problem, even if you do not see it that way. She didn't even have the courage to die! She clutched the wad of money in her pocket tightly against her thigh, thinking of the stranger she had met. "Life is worth it, life is worth it..." The words from the note echoed in her mind, and Anna silently decided that before giving up on everything, she would visit her mother and have a nice meal with her and grandma. She had money, she still had money.

I felt no disappointment. Instead, I looked down at the brilliant ruby resting in my hand. So expensive. So beautiful. So mine. … What I hadn't anticipated was that even in this new life, I couldn't escape Cindy's vicious schemes.

Where I get to take up space. I'm going to use this money for medical care that keeps me breathing. For therapy that teaches me I deserved better. For legal protection from the people who see me as an inheritance, not a person. And I'm going to use some of it for completely impractical things. Books I want. Classes I don't need. Experiences that serve no purpose except making me feel alive. Because you said: build a life worth living in the face of mortality. I'm doing that, Grandmother.
