His jaw tightened, but he didn't argue.
"Take Nathan," she said. I refuse to sit here wondering if you're walking into something you won't walk back out of."
Alexander studied her for a long moment, something raw and grateful passing behind his eyes. "I love you," he said. His voice low. "If I don't walk back through that door tonight, I need you to know it was never a question of her or you. It was only ever going to be you."
