The Secret Affair
"Adrian, what did you do?"
"I proposed a cold, transactional deal," I say, my voice filled with a mocking, bitter humor. "A temporary solution to a very dangerous problem. We do this until the wedding. We burn this thing between us to ashes. And then we walk away, and we become the men we were always meant to be."
Leo stares at me, his eyes wide with disbelief. "You're crazy. You're a madman. You can't be serious."
"I am," I say, my voice a low, raw sound. "He is an addiction, Leo. A poison I can't stop craving. And the only way to get rid of a poison is to consume it until it has no power over you."
